Nice progress pics! I am so not looking forward to bending the mains. Yours look like they are just bent back? Did you bend them off to the side as well?
Can you give us a frontal pic and a side pic of your landing gear setup?

Thnx,
Spar

The gear are bent back and slightly out. It took a little effort to get it right. I will post a few pictures and try to show how they look.

Hey ph, i ordered my wing cores of G&P SALES almost 3 weeks ago and they never came. i left 3 phone calls . no return calls ,nothing so i finally called back AGAIN and left a message for him to forget sending them . he told me that he had a set ready to go when i first called. his customer service isn't worth a crap anymore i guess i won't be buying anything else from him. so my jet is on hold till i can find someone to cut the cores or i might just have to forget the whole thing. good luck with yours , warbird_1

Warbird,
Sorry to hear that you are having trouble getting your wing cores. I want all the feedback that we can get on this build and I hate for you to not be able to complete your hornet. I must say that I talked with Bill myself about three weeks ago on getting another canopy, because the one that came in the kit was some what smashed. I have not received it yet. I am trying to be understanding as I am sure you are too, but Bill's customer service does need improvement. Good luck Warbird.

Don't forget to include a front and side shot (90 degrees) of your landing gear. That will give me and others a good pattern to go by.

PH , i got your call the other night but i didn't have a return number. but to anwser your question. i went per plans on the aleirons. i'm glad bill at least got back to you . gezzzzz! i ordered my gear today . i went with the robart 530w1 main gear cause first of all the gear fold away from the air cyl which allows me to use a spring loop close to the fuse. and second they were very beefy. next i went with the 561rs nose gear . that too was nice and beefy. i had rhom air's on my other three jets and the mains worked great ,but i was having ongoing problems with the nose gear . mostly because i was flying off glass strips and second the nose gear wire was always flexing and moving around. i just could never get it strong enough. please ... keep me up on how it's going. i'll be getting a spot on my web site soon as to my progress , warbird_1

Here are the gear doors and the tail cone. I glassed the with a layer of fiberglass mat and poly resin because they were not very ridgid.

Nice, thanks for posting the pics.

I think my kit is an older one because the intakes are from PETG not glass and the turkey feathers look different as well. Can't complain though as I won mine on an Ebay auction for $175 and that included a full set of Spring Air retracts! Nothing is missing from the kit, but I did get delayed on it as I was sidetracked with a AKM Su-27 Flanker.

Lots of winter time yet!

You are welcome,
I am sure that you are right about your kit being of the older style. I have the build video from G&P and the intakes are PETG and it is about 8-10 years old from what I can tell. I must say that you got a great deal if you got the plane and retracts for $175. The plane and retracts cost about $550-$600 new.

I considered the AKM SU-27, and the G&P Hornet when I was looking for my winter project. I bought one on ebay, but the deal fell through so I got the Hornet. I may build the SU-27 later.

I have the stabs fiberglassed on to the fuselage now and finishing the fiberglassing of the elevators and rudders. I will be glassing the wings this week. I have cut the canopy to fit and she is starting to look like a Hornet now.

Just to let everyone know the Hornet is progressing slowly now , due to the holidays. I hope to have the wings and the tail sections
primered gray soon. I will post some pictures after I have it primered.

Here are a few pics of the Hornet now with a hatch that I cut in the nose to hold the power switch, air fill connection, and an air pressure gage.
