Default ARF Bashed GP 15-25 Combat Mustang

The Great Planes Combat 15-25 Mustang is a great little airplane. And after a little ARF bashing to make it look the part..... new Ultracoat, a custom canopy, and reduced frontal area belly scoop. I just need to put a better spinner on the front to complete the make over. With an OS32SX, MACS Muffler, and APC 8 x 7 prop turning about 18,500, it really moves around the sky. Today was the maiden flight and a second and a third. It was great. Zero trim adjustments but slightly nose heavy at the 2 1/4 inch placement specified in the manual.

That is sweet looking! Looks like a Bearcat at first glance-- (Rare-Bear) 18.5K is a VERY good number on that set-up...

She must move purty well-

Cheers!

I was actually trying to copy the Strega Reno Racing Mustang. I had that engine on a beefed up SIG Wonder. With an Ultra-Thrust muffler and Q-40 racing prop, it will turn up to 20,000. But, turning that fast, I was concerned about engine life. I am still very happy with the current setup. I installed the larger cone spinner last night and hope to fly it again this afternoon.

I have done a few of the gp planes one think to watch out for is the horizontal stabs tend to break off in turns getting much above 130 with these. My last one was the mustang like yours. I did mine in the miss America theme. For the os you should see about getting a Jett muffler and run a 8x8 if good at hand launching the plane. I did fully sheet my wing and new stab and elevator.

Good job on yours !!

Jett muffler for sure, the macs one piece pipes really don't do anything. IMO
Looks great!

I put a Mac's black muffler like the one shown on my GP Spitfire/OS25FP combo, and lost almost 1000rpm. It does sound and look nicer than the stock muffler, and keeps more oil off the plane, but was a definite loss in power. Gotta get my TT .36Pro put in the Spitfire for some more speed!

MUST GET JETT MUFFLER!!!! World of difference in RPM. All of our GP warbirds (me and my buddies have them all!) use the Jett pipe.

Thunder Tiger .36 is a great engine. I have one in my P47 with a (say it with me) Jett muffler and it will MOVE OUT! I can get really close to 17k rpm with a 8x7 prop.

The Spitfire had a .32SX with a (you guessed it) Jett muffler and it was a bit faster than the P47. But its a smaller, lighter aircraft. I think that the P40 and the Spitfire are the fastest of the "new" GP Combats, but the Mustang was really competitive.
