Default Backplate mount screws for Webra ?

I don't really know if I should post this question here or in the glow engines forum, but I thought I'd come to the Brotherhood first.
I have decided to use my Webra 50 on a GP Viper I'm building. My question concerns the backmount, and more specifically, the correct screws to bolt the plate to the Webra. Anyone here know what size the ( metric obviously ) backplate screws are on the Webra 50, and where to get longer ones ?

Thanks,

Dave

Just a guess, Bro....probably 4mm. Take 'em down to the Auto Parts store and
try to match the thread pitch, using a longer screw.

Dave.

Thanks Dave, but I doubt the auto parts stores in my neck of the woods ( small town ) would carry anything metric that small. I found out that Hobby Lobby carries a bit of metric hardware. If need be, I can just order a few different sizes from them, and hope I get some that will work.

Right on, Dave....the problem is the pitch sizes on them small screws....there's
too darn many of them....the store always carries every one but the one you need.

Try to match up the screws with screws from another engine, like an OS or a
Magnum....or find a nice LHS with a large selection of car stuff....they will probably
have the screws in stock.

Will do. Kinda stinks that I'll spent several times as much on gas getting to the LHS as I will on the screws I need. Oh well---

They are not M4, they are M3,5...

There's also no problem with pitch sizes... except for the crank on some larger engines (finer threads), every metric screw on engines uses standard pitch...

Thanks Rudeboy. I knew the Brotherhood would come through. So far, all I've been able to find in a 3.5 mm screw is an alloy. No steel. Think aluminum screws would work?

I may not have much choice ! []

I hate to be rude and double post, but I think I have a solution. The cylinder head screws in the Webra seem to be the same size. I think I can get my LHS to order a set of these for me and cut them to length. Wish me luck---

Dubro carries 3,5 millimeter screws...

Dave, the ironic thing is that M3,5 screws are VERY hard to find over here too... decent ones, that is... the cheap stuff is all over the place.
One time I actually bought M3,5 allen head screws with an imperial head size (and a set of matching imperial hex keys) because I couldn't find anything else...

Oh, and about using alloy screws... that may be good enough for keeping your backplate on, but since you are mounting your engine with these screws, I'd look for something more solid...

Rudeboy, your advice is most appreciated. Found the catalog #s for the Dubro screws and will get them on order.

I was afraid that alloy screws might not work for this use. It would really suck to have one break off in the crankcase.

Thanks again,

Dave.
