Default Magnum UK W/Nelson 40

Got this combo here and getting ready to fly it. Do you guys think the plane can handle this engine. I am hoping to get to the 200 mph range. Any mods reccomended ???

The plane can handle it...... no problem there.

Use the right prop, and its going to scream. Id personally suggest an APC 8.8x9.25 clipped down to 8.25" diameter (and rebalanced of course).

I doubt you will hit 200 mph with it though.

Never the less..... keep us up to date !

Some of the more honking Magnums with the W50 and Jett SJ-50 engines up front have been flying around 165 on the top end (level flight). Some info provide to me as high as 175 mph. (i wish someone would get a good air data recording on one of these.....)

Id expect you will be in that ball park as well.

Thats cool....It should keep me on my toes...I had a DD with a jett 50. But I sure do like the looks of this plane better. I will definately keep you updated

The only problem you might run into with the nelson is launching, At those RPM's the prop will be slipping a lot at first. My Magnum was a pain in the ass to launch at 2800' ASL. I was turning an APC 8.75x8 at 23,000 on the ground. Launch required a HUGE throw, and if the throw wasn't perfect, it was repair time
I'd probably recommend a bungy launch or a dolly with the nelson on there.
