Which radio do you use and why?

It's time for a new radio and I want to know which brand of Radio would give me the most bang for the buck?

I have flown mostly Futaba but thinking of moving on to another brand.

Mistake or good move?[sm=confused.gif]

All I need is PCM with maximum of 7 channels.

What say you?

I use a Futaba 9C PCM and have used Futaba and JR for many years.

In my case, I simply like the way the computer operated on the Futaba so the real reason I use Futaba is a matter of feeling comfortable with it.
They are all very good and it's like choosing between a Ford, Chevy, or a Chrysler.
Whatever turns you on.

I have a four year old HiTec Eclipse that's still in use. Great radio but getting a bit dated. Just upgraded to a JR 9303. Like Rainery said, a LOT of radio for the money.

Ed,

Which model of Heathkit?

I like my F&M Digital 5 with KPS-7 servos, EK Logitrol II with PS-2 servos, Cannon and Kraft Custom with KPS-9's. Low flying weight (pound to pound and a half) and fast servos (about 1 second end to end). If I could just get my Orbit back.

I prefer Futaba, for the ease of using the computer and because it's negative shift. I think there are more options when you use Futaba

JR all the way, I prefer the 10X and love mine, but the 9303 is a winner too. Very high quality

Hey Speedjunkie,

JR 3810 tx, all JR servo's & recievers. I had a bad experience with a Hitec set I had once & have stayed away from anything other than JR since.

Tony.

JR all the way. To me I think they are easier to program and just easier to work with setting up planes. I have used both JR and Futaba and on Futaba I find myself getting lost. I guess once u used a Futaba it is no big deal and easy to use but to me it was a headache.

Another main reason is the ergonomics. At our field we try each other planes out all the time. When I fly my buddies he has a Futaba and the radio just does not feel right in my hands. It feels bulky and square. Also I find myself hunting for places to put my fingers while trying not to get in way of switches. As for the JR I don't have that problem.

This is just my reasons why I go with JR. Nothing really pointing out better performance than the other just little things that keep me in JR.
