@Strykaas
No result for the "Magnum"
...but inofficial world record at the Speedcup 2006 for F3A:
Peter Schmald (Germany) with OPS 60 engine: 347,8km/h (216mph)
Peter´s engine and Peter himself:

BVM-91? AWESOME!
Very motivating to see these ships!
Every once in awhile I see an OPS-60 on Ebay and I am tempted to get one for just such an occasion...
Speed Junkie- Any hints as to what you are working on? Is it Rossi-90 related?

Razor,
Yes!
I love my Rossi .90's
I think I have about 6 of them plus enough new parts to build 3 more!
Simple, sleek, cheap and fast is my motto at the moment for the new airframe!

Look at this fantastic picture of my friend Artur:
The plane touched the ground at 190mph..... crash??? No!!!, ...the flight went on with grass on the right wing!!!
After that the pilot (Klaus Wilken) was happy!

From todays viewpoint the maximum allowed wing load of 75 grams/dm² is THE main technical barrier if trying to set a new remarkable world speed record (let’s say about 240 mph through the 200 m distance without wind support) for prop driven speed planes.

If tyring to set a record for fastest flying propped RC object there shouldn't be any barriers. What is the point of the barrier? I can see it creating competition in a certain class, but fastest means fastest regardless of what had to done to get there. However it should be on the planes power with understandably a dive but not nature helping.

Looks like a good weekend of flying. While maybe comparing apples to oranges, this plane went 20mph slower with a gas motor than our average electric pylon power system on it. It's a popular F5D airframe hacked off at the nose.
Though, I'm confused why none of the fast German electric guys didn't go to this?? They all have stuff that's capable of 200+. Is this not a well advertised event?

@Troy-RCU
the result of the Ariane Pylon model, you talked about, was 169mph with a gas motor! Are you sure, that an average electric pylon power system goes 20 miles faster through a straight line of 160 yards??? I can´t believe that. Please tell me your configuration and the components you are using in the electric model.
The event was advertised very well, but the Speedcup is traditionel an event of gas planes. It was the first time, that planes with electric power got their own class. Maybe next year you can see more planes with electric power at the Speedcup 2007 in Dachau (near Munich).

The person who knows everything about this model is the owner: Michael Jakob (Germany´s fastest model pilot with prop!). His name in this RCUniverse forum is: "f3d". Write him a mail and you get any information you need....or use the german forum "www.rc-network.de" and choose "Speedcup". His name in the german forum is also "f3d". There you can write him a personal message. He speaks English.

RE: 250 mph speed! - German SPEEDCUP 2006 scheduled Sept 15th 16th 17th
Mastos, 272km/h is fast but when I saw the plane and motor I expected 280+km/h. A good .21 is 2-2.5 HP at 30,000+RPM and 749 watts is 1 horsepower. The electric system is around 800 watts or just above 1 HP and flying weight is 850grams (heavier too). A Hacker B40 FAI on 9-GP2200's can achieve 185mph without a long dive (similar to your two gates), I have measured this with a good quality Radar Gun early in the summer. Average speed on a course is about 175mph/281.6km/h although the last FAI world championship new world records were set and speeds were higher.
Good video here:
http://www.strat.at/download/mayerg_wc2006.wmv
I saw that Dirk Belting went last year and flew 175mph with his Avionik F5D but not this year. I think this is a great event and hopefully you can make this grow!
The German RC boat racers are king of speed, too. Another contest in November here in California. Maybe 140mph/225km/h this year?
Danke

This kit, mainly fuselage is a construction of Achim Kaiser back from the 90's. It was among the top in those days and is still up to date. Achim Kaiser is well known in the F3D Pylon scene - just some background information about Achim Kaiser. Today the fueslage gets combined with different types of selfmade wings. There are serveral legal copies around here of his speeder. The best way is to set up your question in the german speed forum as Mastos / Martin said. I bet someone else might answer too.
@ troy
Bernd's (the one with the "gas Ariane" on the Photo) main intense was a a high speed within the 3,5ccm class, not replacing an Elektro as his main intense. What rellay hurts is the not covered engine and pipe - he also mentioned that disadvantage. But as usual time is rare. But he promised he will cover that for next year.
As usual, people promise higher speeds or say : Hey man 350 km/h? That's easy to beat. But it's somewhat strange, that those people don't appear on the contest Building your own fuselage, wing and props is somewhat more complicate than it might be at the first look. And for sure very time consuming. Beeing faster than the other oones is the next point. I am relativley sure, that speeds will raise more, and limit will be pushed further next year. I will also try to do so next year

200+ on a prop plane???
im not a flyer (i might start soon howerver), so ive never seen any propped plane go that fast....
the motors these guys are using, are they modded airplane motors, or suped up versions of boat or car motors....a lot of stock car and boat motors actually have more rpm's and torque than airplane motors....but then again, they are heavyer.....still amazed on how fast the glider goes.....[X(]

Where can we purchase these European Speed planes? Any US catalogs or suppliers?
Where can we purchase these European Speed planes? Any US catalogs or suppliers?
I am pretty sure that these two speedplanes are not distributed anywhere outside Germany. Even here such kits are so rare that I suppose even potential speed competition flyers have a hard time getting a spare kit.
Anyway, FHHOBBIES made a thread some days ago addressing the “real” demand of a certain, yet undecided type of fast prop driven plane. Actually he doesn’t know what type of plane to design and kit for the North American folks.
So many of the RCU forum members should actively help him to reach a decision. Time and demand will tell what to be kit in the end…
