Default Is Rabbit Dry Lake dry??????

Hi guys,

How's the lake-bed doing after last weekend's rain. Is it muddy still?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,
It didn't rain last weekend.
I was there and man was it windy![X(]
It had to of been gusting up to 60mph because when it did it was an instant dust storm out of Iraq![sm=thumbdown.gif]
Zero visibility for about 15 seconds!
I just landed prior to one huge dust ball covered the whole dry lake!
Man was I lucky!
I actually landed going backwards with no flaps down![sm=thumbup.gif]
It was a blast! Literally![sm=lol.gif]
It should be dry as a bone.

I used to fly at Rabbit Lake if it is the one east of Victorville, just past the "Y' in the road. I was watching a guy once aim his plane straight down full throttle and at the last minute pull up and skim the dry lake. I turned my back after watching awhile and heard a loud boom. I turned around to see pieces of plane rolling across the lake bed. I'm pretty sure this was Flyboy Dave.

Rabbit is dry, but VERY cold when you are out early enough to beat the wind. We'll probably be out in the morning (Saturday), hoping for a little still air to maiden my Fliton Edge 540.

Actually I went to Rabbit on Saturday and posted my Magnum Videos in another thread on this forum. The winds were pretty much non-existent (thankfully). But man the wind sure picked up on Sunday, I couldn't imagine how bad it must have been in the desert. El Mirage must have been impossible to even drive into.

BTW, Speed Junkie's Yellow Cobra Ducted Fan [shown as his avatar] is awesome!!!!!! It blows the wings off of my Weston Magnum. Wayne says it has reached 197 MPH and after witnessing it fly, I can fully attest to that!!! [sm=thumbup.gif]

Mike,
Let's go flying again!
Which Saturday is best for you?
Lets just make it an open invitation to the Brotherhood again and see if we can get at least another Rev Bro to show and burn up the sky![sm=thumbup.gif]
How's the Delta fly'n?
Are you still doing 150mph in your Corvette from light to light?[X(]
Maybe FlyBoy Dave Will Come?
The Man, The Legend, The Father of all Rev Bro's![sm=lol.gif]

Cmon' Mike Let's Go![sm=biggrin.gif]

Hey Wayne,

I tried my infamous dolly with the Magnum....it was a near disaster. The dolly was running around in circles on the dry lake. And at the same time it was twisting hard to the left with all the torque. Ended up that I needed my friend to hand launch.

I did put a wood block on the front of the dolly, so maybe I can lift the angle of attack to fly the Diamond Dust delta off of it.

Yeah getting together on a Saturday with FBD sounds great. Although the winds would probably prevent us from doing it this Saturday. [&:]
