Default 201mph electric...short video

Plane is a nemesis f5d powered by a neu brushless on lipo's. With throttle management, I get about 8-10 min of runtime. Lipo's get a little warm, but I have enough cushion to prop up a bit. I'm hoping to squeeze a little more speed out of it.

Here's the vid.

197 into the wind and 201 with a tail wind, so I did have a breeze on my side. Plane was also clocked out of a pretty steep dive.

Well, even with the slight dive, a 199 average is impressive.

Kinda reminds me of playing a FPS. But I don't remeber a radar gun as an option in DOOM Seriously though, that was insane!

Motor: Neu 1509/2.5D
Controller: CC80
Lipo: TP 4200 5s2p
Prop: 5x5 APC

Draws 80 amps

I'm considereing trying some oversquare props, but no one seems to make them for this application.

smokin

shows ya the huge penalty we have to pay for having a cylinder, cooling, carb intake and exhaust to deal with All of that frontal area adds up in a hurry.

Nice job..... thanks for the video

Bolly lists some Team Race props in the 6.2-6.4 diameter regime in 6-and-change pitches. I wonder if one of those trimmed a bit might do the job? You seemed to have no shortage of static thrust as it was off the ground in a beat, so it seems more pitch is practical.

I tried cutting down a 5.2x5.2 to a 4.8x5.2 and it pulled too many amps. Had to cut it down to a 4.3x5.2 to keep the lipo's happy. This prop just doesn't look right and I'm hesistant to use it. I heard you kill the efficiency of these props when you cut them down too much. I might try cutting down a 5x5 to a 4.8x5 first.

I re-pitch Graupner CAM props pretty easy and I have successfully done it with APC's pylon props as well. Though, I have to be more careful with the APC's as they have to be heated up a bit more and if I don't watch what I'm doing I can damage the prop. If you look here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...ighlight=pitch you'll see my technique. It does require a pitch guage but that's about it for special tooling. Note: playing with props is always risky and if you do a modification you are responsible for your actions. Heating a blade could compromise its strength and could weaken the material.

Thanks for the info Troy. I'm a little hesitant to try that just yet. Good to know though.
