DC F-20 - Finally finished
I just wanted to share a project i started years ago and finally finished. This is a direct connection kit, and i have a new never run OS 46sf abc in it with a tower muffler. I hope to get to start breaking in the motor today. Just a 10x6 on it for this but hope to move to a 9x7 or possibly a 9x8 will have to see how it goes. It Balanced right on just following regular equipment installation

burgh_guy61,
Looks really good
My new F20 comes on Monday, getting the Sportsman one. Looks very similar to yours in shape. This replaces the Pheonix F20 that i lost.
mmmm F20/ 5's are becoming an addiction all of their own. Am also thinking of getting an F20 slope soarer as well !!!
Tony.

Tony , Your Sportsman F-20 is 100% identical to the old DC one . made by the same factory in China from the same plans with the same materials but for a different US importer.

RE: DC F-20 - Finally finished
now you guys have done it..I'm updating from my pheonix f20 aswell...my phoenix is fine but it did have issues like silly linkages ..no retracts big wing etc....so Ive just ordsered a kit from juno...its going to have retracts (nose gear inclusive), the draggy airpods will become wing fillets with perhaps a LEX's and a jett 46 for power would prefer a 50lx but everything has limitations especially my wallet!!![sm=disappointed.gif]
and one other cool thing about this kit that I almost forgot, is that the control Horns are internal according to the website
with all the mods should turn out prettty clean and i get to do my own scheme..cant wait!!!!
cheers!

Thanks for all the compliments. I didnt get to run it today, darn march weather. I wish i had done it with retracts but none the less i will have fun with it. The old 46sf i bought the same time i did the kit or it would have gotten a Jett. Haveblue you will be happy with how the juno kit does the linkages, all internal, will get a pic later if your intrested.
Flyboy dave from the burgh huh..the old west view park..lol...showing my age here
(at least i didnt say yinz)
again thanks for all the compliments guys, and yes i do love the looks of the F-20

You did a good job, fly it and if you like it, get another propjet and deck it out later.

RE: DC F-20 - Finally finished
I know the feeling about starting them and losing the time to get them finished. The F-20 has taken along time. I have the flanker also, just starting to install equipment, then all the finish work. There is that Patriot kit sitting there and other projects. I will finish the flanker it has that wow factor too.

Are you kidding me? I thought you finished that thing a year ago. Mine looks just like his sitting in the corner.

WOW looks GREAT ! If ya get scared of it. Sell it to ME ! Super nice job ! Yes go for the JETT pipe or even a full length Tuned pipe from Macs. I think they even have them pre-tuned for your motor. I run pipes on all my speed planes ! LOVE them.

RE: DC F-20 - Finally finished
I really cant justify a Jett pipe for the motor. I really think the gain would not equal price, and a tuned pipe would be a pain because i have to take the wing off to transport. To do it again, (and i just might with a Juno kit) i would do the retracts and Jett 50 but for now i think it will be fun.
Haveblue, actually to get the flanker to this point went pretty quick. I was pleasantly surprised how well it went together and how quick. I have a few year old SJ 90 for it and should be a blast. I have all my older ongoing projects out of the way now, well except for one, an old Ohio r/c 72" extra in the bones (talk about a builders kit) and hope to have the flanker ready for this season also. I have 3 planes that need maiden flights now. Come on nicer weather

RE: DC F-20 - Finally finished
that might inspire me to move it along burgh and get the flanker done too....but then again it's been about 20 years since Ive built a kit, I'm short of a bit nervous to get it all done right but it's an excited nervousness . Just hope I can build one half as good as some of the ones Ive seen here..but I should be okay as I followed the build thread closely and jotted down all the improvements the guys came up with through out the builds..but then again some of the instructions on building the diamond dust had me stumped so I put it all back in the box[X(]..mind you it was 4.00 am in the morning an I was a wee bit tired at that time.

RE: DC F-20 - Finally finished
I am building another DC F20 now and am struggling with whether to cover or completely glass/paint the plane. I have never glass/painted a plane, so I am worried about added weight. Also, I've never painted and don't want to do a crappy job. Ahhh, just can't decide.
