Outlaw Power
I'm building Jerry Smith's Outlaw. His original used a Weber 32, but told me he had switched to OS for better reliability. Who is the US dealer for Weber? Would the OS be a better option? Anyone with experience to share would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

RE: Outlaw Power
Bullard;
I'm not much of a OS fan, shades of the first GM diesel sort of thing. Have two Webra speed 35's. One is in a Krangke F3d and has been very reliable and does scoot with a Jett Engineering pipe on it. Goofed one day and ran it so lean, there was no compression left right after the flight! Next day I started to pull it off intended for the trash. Woa, the compression was back. Still running reliably and strong.

I suppose you are talking about a WEBRA .32... well, if you can get one new or nearly new, go for it: they are very good engines. And they work even better with the Dynamix slide carb: best throttle response you've ever seen. If I manage to find anohter Dykes ringed .32... I will not hesitate.

hey guys what do you think about a 46 AX, could I get it to balance on the CG with this motor. it weighs 17.2 oz with the muffler.

The OS 32 SX weighs 12.32 with muffler. So your up 5 oz there and balancing will be a problem. Unless you add a bigger tank the 4 oz Hayes tank isn't going to last long either.
The airfoil of the Outlaw is thicker than the Whiplash or Diamond Dust so there will be a limit to how fast it will go.
They are pretty hot already if you use the Webra 36. But it's only time and money, go for it and keep us posted

All of the engines listed are good ones and are great when used with a peformance exhaust. Just don't compare two engines, one with a stock muffler and the other with a tuned pipe, mousse can or jett/ultrathrust, isn't fair. And different brand engines of the same displacment may perform best with different props. Take the time to break-in, peak & tweak in a test stand than finally in the air. It can make the differnce between a dog and a screamer.

Webra made a ringed 35 a few years ago. Strong, takes a while to break-in. It's sort of long stroked and won't winde as high as a OS 32 FX so prop it accordingly. I found it can generate a lot of vibration so watch for foaming. I have two of these engines, one in an Outlaw and the other is homeless, it was in a now deceased Krange F3D. I really like these engines.

The .32 SX is a great motor, I have a half dozen of them...

RE: Outlaw Power
I have two OS 32SX 's. One has been though hell on my PBF and won't die. The other is N.I.B. wanting a plane. It may go in my LR-1 that's almost ready. The most powerful 30 sized weight class motor Iv'e ever come across is the Thunder Tiger Pro 39 Heli motor. The heads been turned down to get rid of the large square heat sink and a prop drive was made in place of the clutch. Loves to scream on 30% heli fuel. It was originally purchased for a diamond dust, but I think I'll try it and the can exhaust on the Outlaw.

RE: Outlaw Power
ok I tested it today. Outlaw with a O.S. 46 AX stock muffler weighin @ 48 1/2 oz. total weight including the 2 1/2 oz. I added to the tail. She flies great. The fastest I flew it today was 3/4 throttle and she was out of sit quick. Brought it back in close trim ed it out and flew it at 1/2 throtle for the rest of the perfect first outlaw flight. I think I am going to really like this plane . if I didnt have to work right now I would be flying now

Like Jerry said you really have to want to get it all in there. Thanks for the photo. After some "Reorganization" I got a "NoBS" 800mah NiCad in mine. Only 1 oz added weight over the 350mah pack. I'm telling the plane to exhale when I put the hatch back on
