Default Extra 40 with OS 91FX?What do you think?

I have a Greatplanes Extra 300S ARF and i use an OS 65LA!
Well i don't have unlimited vertical with this engine nor enough spped to ENJOY
What do you think of using an OS 91FX as power imrovement?
Should i make any mods?
Also,
weight is just the same only ~1oz more!
What do you think?
And also what prop to use?

First off, get rid of the LA. Change to a 61 FX and use a MACS mini pipe and you will be amazed. The 91 is way too much power.

2nd, get rid of the Extra and put the 61fx in the front of a .40 size P-51 and you'll have a great "speed plane"

The OS 91FX has tremendous power for this model?
Well,
then this power is provided only with full throttle, right?

good point! with the 91 you will only need half throttle to fly normally and full throttle for unlimited vertical!

The 91 fx is way too much power for this airframe. Remember that this is only the 40 size, the 91 would be good for the 60 size Extra. Overpowered is one thing, overstressing leads you to the ground.

Go for the 91 and enjoy. Having fun involves risks. Just reinforce the firewall and other key areas. Make sure you have high torque metal geared servos also.

Well,
i cannot reinforce the firewall with fiberglass cloth because i don't have enough space to work.
Even with a brush, things are too difficult.
Also i use S3004,standard servos.
Why do you think i should use metal gears?

Kostas1,

Everybody wants to rebuild your plane for you. Just put a 61 fx and you will have the extra power that you want and you won't have to change a thing. Just fly it and enjoy.

So I'm trying to get a few things together before she arrives, Could anyone tell me the size of the stock spinner.

I've already got the OS 61FX with pitts muff, and the Futaba 3305s I cant wait!!!!

I'm also goin to glass the cowl, and spats...any other pointer's would be appreciated!

Thanks Antony.

I have the same airplane and it did lack power with the Supertiger 51. I bought a Tower hobbies 75 and the plane came alive. Offcourse, the plane could go faster
Anyway, I would give the 75 a try. Here is the link: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXUR78&P=0

Good luck,

Le fou
