RE: Modified Diamond Dust Video
Right hand launches aren't a problem for me... as long as the wind behaves a little I once almost had a running engine blown into my face when a strong gust got a hold of my plane, just as I was about to launch. Can't say I liked that very much...

RE: Modified Diamond Dust Video
Thanks for the nice comments Mike ! I will be posting a new video very soon. My DD now has a K&B .82 DF with an onboard airspeed indicator. Last week the first flight was 195 mph with a carbon fiber 9-10.5 prop which it turns at 19,100 on the ground. Next time I will try a 9-12 CF prop that the .82 turns at 18,000 on the ground. Regards to all, Scott.

Scott,
I'm ready for the next video & I'm sure everybody else is as well.
It doesn't seem possible to improve on the last video!!
Thanks, Mike

YIKES!!! [X(][X(]
How does all that nose weight affect the flight characteristics (if at all)?

RE: Modified Diamond Dust Video
The weight went from 4 pounds to 5 pounds and the CG moved forward half an inch but it still flys the same as before. My last DD which was in the stock configuiration was very sensitive in pitch and roll, but this one is not at all. This DD is one of the smoothest flying planes I have ever flown with no bad habbits which really surprised me the first time I flew it. When I started building this DD I was experimenting with some different building tecniques and did not intend to ever fly it, but after it started taking shape I thought maybe I would try to fly it, and the rest is history. Thanks to all for your interest. Regards, Scott. BTW I will try to upload some pictures soon.

I know that your other DD was sharpened and thinned at the tips. What did you change this time? Im guessing that it's not a clipped wing with the monster aboard.

RE: Modified Diamond Dust Video
This DD is the one that had the Jett 60 in it before. The airframe is unchanged except for the .82 and a 8.5 oz. blatter tank. The DD before that one was stock with a YS .45 RE.

Scott,
Very cool buddy! I'm going to have to come out and see that thing again. I might have to copy your killer launch dolly If you want I can get the prospeed radar on the new prop/motor setup if you want to back up your airspeed indicator. Say Hi to Ron and Pat for me.
Nice Job,
Erik

Ho, Ho, Ho, OH man that's cool. Where did you get the CF prop ? I have a K&B 100 but I need build a tad larger DD for it some day, but I wont even bother if there's isn't a prop for it here in the states.

RE: Modified Diamond Dust Video
Go to clspeed.com and click on parts finder, look for ZZ Prop. Call Mike Hazel and he will send you a list of all the props that he can make. Props cost $16.00 each and are unfinished. For the K&B 100 you will want to run a 9-10.5 to a 9-12. As far as the size of the plane go's, if I had a 100 it would be on this plane! Regards, Scott.

RE: Modified Diamond Dust Video
Very nice..video is awsome....looks like I'll have to graduate from racing the .15 delta racer to something bigger like the DD with a .60. that speed was just incredible.SMOKIN'.... our club raced a common platform using the LA15 OS plain bearing, Delta design that was 24in made from coroplast and one center rudder fin, two vortex wing tips used like drags with one stationary nose wheel.Take offs were a "learned" experience but capable. I love the cart'dolly set up and will definitly build something similar for the 24in racer to try. I cursed those take offs more than once trying to ROG on a grass field. Now these little deltas didn't go 150plus mph but 85mph passes were fun. Now double that for a 60 equipped DD, gotta try it...LoL...Again, nice Video and Plane.
Don...
PS, I'll try to include a pic of old NO#53...finished 5th out of 65 racers in my first season...I was very pleased and Hooked for sure...now I need a DD fix
