OS 1.08, GMS 1.20, or ST2300 for Rare Bear
I have an OS 1.08FSR I was thinking of putting in a Rare Bear, but would a GMS 1.20 or ST2300 be a better choice?
Thanks for the suggest.

I don't know, like he said, that would be a tough one but the GMS would be last on my list of the choices. I have two 1.08's and a 2300 and would be a coin toss. Be that as it may, want to tell you what I have seen.
I have not seen a Rare Bare first hand. But a guy here built the Top flight Sea Fury a couple years ago with the same blue gray colors.. Now what was unique about the plane was the engine installation. He mounted it (OS 1.08)straight up but the top of the engine was even with the cowl and did not stick up about it. Since the cowl was blue, he painted the head blue so it blended right in.
You might get away with this trick on the Bare also. Other than that I mounted my inverted engines at around 175 or 185 degrees so that it avoids any puddling right on the plug.

Hi Matty,
Just be careful with the Rare Bare, they have a habit of shedding tail feathers in flight. I know of 2 that have cracked the Horizontal stab here, & 1 that came off in flight & totalled the plane.

Could that be from "removing the covering" on the horiz. stab. using an exacto instead of a soldering iron?
just a thought---

To be honest I'm not too sure about that 1, but 1 guy that lost 1, is a very well known pylon model builder & pilot, & his just ripped off.
There was a massive thread about the bears on here last year, on what to do to modify them. I think it was in the scale forums.
Tony.

well that would have to be super weak to begin with, I always use an exacto...never had a problem like that which the rear bear has suffered..got to be more to it than that

Hi Guys
I knew I had read more about this on RCU. It is in the ARF section, & goes over 50 pages!!! I had a look through it till the start of the stab failures. It starts on pg 24, but they all start to look at their airframes around pg 32. Here is a link to pg 32 for some info as to what was done to modify their airframes, for both this problem , & the rtracts ripping out.
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_16...failure/tm.htm
It is a built up tail on this 1, but seems that it lets go close to where the interconnect is between the fuse & Horiz stab. Seems a connection with the wrong engine incidence, TT's factory quality control, & elevator flutter.
Hope this isnt too far off topic, but I thought it was relevant to the engines as some were using smaller & larger engines than Matty had talked about.
