Definitely not the biggest, but I just built a 36" span delta that is a dog with a piped Webra and 9x8 prop. Some of those Balsa USa monstrosities are way behind the power/desired speed curve, too.

Maybe not the smallest, but one of the smallest glow powered deltas can be seen at the 1/2A forum. It is called the BLINK, by PTULMER.

I think a 36" span plane would be good for a .90, just move it back into the wing as far as it will go.

HI,
I was thinking along the lines of 48" wing span to improve the wing load and aid slow flight handling,
mvvs 91 is quite heavy but helluva donkey,
what do you think?
thanks for the imput,

Look up some of the backthreads posted by xxspeed and Erik_R (Dave and Erik). I know in the past they have posted photos of some real big "dust" looking deltas

When it comes to figuring out a good size, first you gotta come up with a minimum wing area that you think you could live with based on comparing wing loading numbers with like sized models. The projected weight figure between a .90 powered and a .50 powered doesn't have to change much except for the difference in engine weight. The different airframe weights empty aren't all that much different, between a 3 footer and a 4 footer. 48" sounds huge to me, but you could always design the airframe so that you can shorten the span after you find out that the plane is too slow, or flies like a glider. The lower the aspect ratio of your design, the easier it will be to offset the weight of the engine.

haha,,, yep thats a big dust.. i took the above picture..

jeff has a few more massive dusts.. bigger than the one pictured.. removeable wings..

also, my friend gerry built a micro dust.. only one foot of wing area,, i think it was a norvell 079 on it.. it was very quick but kinda squirlly ..

i will try to get some pics next time i see those dudes at the field...the diamond dust arfs i think are almost available.. i know the electric version is!
