Default Patriot XL weight??

I have a Patriot XL that is just about done. My concern is the weight. Currently it's 8.5lbs without the engine! I am putting an OS 91 FX in it so that's another 30oz with the pipe. Currently the plane has 8 Hitec standard servos and two mini Hitec 85's for the steering and the throttle. It has spring air retracts, a volt meter and a lost aircraft alarm. The wings are fully sheeted and monocoated. I have put the 12oz tank over the CG and put a 4oz hopper tank in front. I don't know how I can make it any lighter and I'm wondering what type of speed I can expect. Does anyone out there have a Patriot XL and if so how much does it weigh, what type of engine are you using, and how fast does it go? Thanks for any input.

Default RE: Patriot XL weight??

Most of the Patriot XL aircraft I have worked with so far came in between 8.5 and 9.0 lbs flying weight.

Ive seen a couple pushing 9.5 lbs, and they flew fine with .91 power.

I also saw one last summer where the owner went out of his way to put it on a diet, made a bunch of modifications, and with spring-air gear and a Jett 90L it came in at exactly 8.25 lbs ready for fuel

Morlove- Where do you fly usually? I live in San Diego and am in Temecula once in awhile...

We are going to rabbit dry lake this weekend for a campout and goof around fly-in if you are free--

As for the Pat XL, it only sounds heavy at over 10 lbs. with the 91FX, a Jett-90 and I would be less concerned-
