Default Christmas

Thanks Daryl, sure did have a great Christmas, hope yours was a good one too, I think Dan is about to knock out your Whiplash Extreme, lets put some of these myths about various airplane speeds to bed... :boxing: I'm setting up my Extreme with all the goodies, an OS46VXDF, JR8411s, etc etc... we'll take mine out to the field and get the speed traps out, should be 240+ mph according to the weight/power and prop..

I'll post video of the flight, seeing is believing...

Have a great New Year

Default So what prop..

Are you figuring on using on the VXDF?

And my VXDF wouldn't quite fit in the mounts, looks like I'd need about 1/4" spacers under the engine lugs to get the carb to clear.

Default spacers

Chuck we had to make urethane spacers to put under the engine to elevate it, the carb sits a bit too low on the standard mount.
If you need a set, let me know, we'll send you a pair.

On the Extreme we dropped the tank by almost a 1/4" to accomodate the rear pipes without having to alter the mount or the header, most all pipes clear the tank on the Extreme with no problems..

Default EXTREME MODS

On the Extreme, Dan designed it to include the following..

Lowered the tank cavity to allow better clearance for rear pipes over the tank.

Widened the servo cutouts for the elevons and designed a servo bracket that allows the servos to be completely enclosed under the skin, hence just the servo arm protrudes out of the surface.

The pushrods are a straight shot back to the elevons, 90 degrees to the servo arm.

All the above is the same on the throttle servo.

The Extreme is ALL "Kevlar" and Carbon Fiber construction, its much lighter, stronger, and the elevons are much easier to deflect.

We will post a banner on RCU when we are ready to start taking orders.

Some manufacturers boast a 200 mph airplane, when in reality they can barely get over 125 mph, the Whiplash X and now the Extreme will do better than that with just an OS46 FX.

The Extreme will be just that "Extreme", most aircraft will be hard pressed to beat the speed runs we are about to document on the Extreme, watch RCU for results of speed trials that are going to be conducted soon..

We plan on using a speed trap as opposed to Radar, this is a completely accurate means of determining speed, therefore there will be no gray area on what speeds the plane really achieved.

Thanks for the offer, Rick. This Whiplash is already engined up..the VXDF will have to wait on a different airframe.

I'll be watching the progress of the Extreme to see how you make out on the VXDF before I commit to anything.

Rick, you guys are killing me , I'm having a blast with my Whip w/OS 46fx and now you're coming out with the Extreme that will "rock" even better with the same 46fx?

I'll have to wait and see this newest creation, it may need to be added to the trailer. :greedy:

I'm still not used to the speed on my whiplash...can't wait to the day I'm flying it and actually get my hearbeat under 240.

Dan and I are like a Carnival, we are always trying to give the customer a bigger rush and a scarier ride...

Marc, sorry to tell you, you'll never get use to the adrenalin rush the whiplash gives.. :stupid:
so dont bother, just put a bigger engine on the whiplash and go for it

You know I'm still flying the first one I got from ya. The yellow one with the checker board. Still flying it with the os ducted fan 46vx. It is still the fastest one at the field. But I think my day is coming. So thats why I need the lighter extreme version!!!

Explain down turn, some whiplashi have a left bank, some dip down then start flying, if yours is dipping down after launch, try a little more elevator throw, or maybe you dont have enough prop... or maybe you're nose heavy? how does it fly once it launches?

Mine will roll to the left sometimes but I think it's got to do with the person launching it.

Default prop

Try an APC 9/7 that should dig in a bit more, do you have dual rates? if so, try a little more elevator, and change the prop, that should make a difference...

get back to me if it doesnt work, a 46 should pull that right out of your hands...
