40 Shrike wow
I'm new to this universe.I had the half/A shrike and I also sheeted the area between the tail fins,it seemed like the right thing to do.To make long story short I lost it in a tight turn, when the engine quit, and the elev. had no efect on pulling the nose up at all and it went stright in. The only thing I could think of was arodyanmic stall, going so slow. This plane has to go fast and only fast. Then I built a 40 size and raised the elev. up 2" above the plane of the tail. This plane flies great and is very fast with a .46 LA.I have no radar but it is the fastest thing I ever flew! This plane I have to come in for aproche, bring it down to 3 feet, cut the engine, and it skips all the way down the runway like a stone on water. It's a ball!

You are probably right about the first crash.
The first thing full size pilots have beat into them is,
Elevator changes pitch only, Throttle makes you go up and down.
In the case of most models, too much elevator causes a worse stall
When in doubt , nose over to pick up speed if you can and then go gentle on the elevator.

You guys in TN have it tough.
If you had to wait for it to get to 65, you would never
fly here
Here (Juneau Alaska) we fly as long as it not raining or snowing to hard. temp range from 10 to 55
Hope your flight went will

I finished my 10 shrike just in time for a new years day flight. I had a OS25FSR on my and only did a few mods from the plans. First, I added 2 servos for the wings, one on each side, micros, laid flat so only the arm sticks out. I also sheeted the inboard 2 ribs, the front and back 1/3, and the outboard 2 ribs since there is no hard wood in the kit. I use full size servos for the throttle and elevator, and turned the elevator servo sidways so I could put the battery in the very back to offset the weight of the OS25. Rather than sheeting the stab, I used a piece of Sitka Spruce for the leading edge of it. Lastly, I added a piece of 1/8 1/8 to the front of the ailerons and elevator, sanded them with a slight taper on the leading edge part for flutter reasons and used iron on gapless hinges. The increase in rubber size, the extra servo in the wings and the servo turned sideways so the battery can be all the way back made the plane balence perfectly, and I dont need near as much rudder as I ha heard others needing with the bigger motors. I also didnt use a motor mount as it wouldnt fit so
I glued two spruce rails in the front for a motor mount and I cut the firewall to let the rails go into the fuse an inch. I epoxied the whole front in at one time so it is one.
The shrike is different than the Wonder by a ton. I love its speed and agility, goes right where you point it. Great plane.
