RE: Beretta speed with FAI Nelson
How much of the plane is stock from the original kit? I notice just one aileron used. Did you beef up the wing, and how did you get it to
balance? I guess most of the radio equipment was moved as far back as possible. I've been looking for a US rep for speedmodels.nl,
there used to be one, but can't find them anymore. I've got the Stiletto, but not built yet... planning on an MVVS .28 rear exhaust with
a tuned pipe, though it will never catch up with the Nelson .40. Any estimate on the speed or measurements done? Yeah, lots of
questions, you've got a sweet plane there!

Very nice ship again [8D] It sounds very light !
Hopefully showing your speed planes will somewhat raise the bar here ...
Oh and why are all your airplanes yellow ??

RE: Beretta speed with FAI Nelson
Hallo strykaas,
I have bought 1 kg yellow, black and purple automotive 2k paint and that is why all my speedplanes look the same.
But yellow is in my opinion a colour that is very visibal in the blue sky.
I have made 10 speed planes and paint the same sheme.
3 for 2,5 nelson engines
3 for 6,5 Nelson FAI engine
2 for 10 ccm Nelson
2 for 15 ccm Nelson
I will put some more pictures here.
Best regards Michael

Hallo Michael,
You must be very careful when spraying paint, ten a/c with 1kg only [X(]
BTW where to get that paint in Europe ? And what kind of protection gear do you use ?
Keep the pix coming

Strykaas, you can get automotive paint at an automotive shop... that makes sense, doesn't it? Or you could go to the nearest bodyshop and perhaps you can even get a few leftovers for free.
I use [link=http://www.glasurit.be/fra/belgie_introductie.asp]GLASURIT[/link]... first because it excellent stuff, and second because the nearest automotive shop carries it. It is freakin' expensive though, but well worth the price IMO. The guys at the shop can whip me up ANY colour I want. Minimum quantity is 500ml at that shop, so when doing a multi colour paintjob it is not hard to end up with 150-200 euros worth of paint, hardener and thinner when you leave the door. [X(]
If you use high quality paint, you can use much less of it, simply because these paints "cover" much better than the ordinary "rattle can" paint. You can thin down good quality 2K paint down virtually to the consistency of water... that way you can use a very fine spray gun to apply a coat of only a few microns... light, light, light...

There has to be a shop somewhere relatively close that can whip you up some paint. Find the nearest bodyshop, and ask where he gets his paint. I guarantee you he doesn't have his stuff shipped in from Germany If they can get it, you can get it too...

Now back to the Beretta:
Michael,
Do you think it is possible to shoehorn a Metkemeijer engine into that plane. I'm figuring, if the Nelson more or less "fits", the MB has to fit too... or not?
Also, what prop are you running on that thing? A standard FAI prop, or something more radical?

Paris drivers
OK I'll have a go and ask those guys if they can sell me one liter. I guess it is polyurethan "2 components" based ?
