I hope to build a Dust this year but i have to be honest here. If that thing reaches 200 mph and then explodes like a pidgeon getting hit by a 12 guage. I am going to go home with the same enthusiasim as if i had a succesful maiden! Either way would be very impressive![X(]

RE: Jolly Rodgers Dust
I watched Dave maiden "Blue Eyes" yesterday... the one in the back of the first photo, with an OS .46 FX power plant. What a nice looking and nice flying plane! After a couple of flights, I think the new owner of "Blue Eyes" is ready to upgrade to a Jett power plant like Erik's! These guys just can't get enough speed! I hope I can catch the maiden flight of Bam Bam...

RE: Jolly Rodgers Dust
I concur with -pkh-. I was there too and it was impressive what that thing would do with an ordinary 46FX. But if I know Erik, Bam Bam will be darn near supersonic, scaring the chickens three miles away with the sound of that Jett, and most of the flight will be inverted at 3 inches off the ground. God, I love to watch that guy fly!

All,
Maidened Bam-Bam today.Sickly, obscenely, stupid fast.At least half again faster than my turbine cyclone that Dave radared @ 170 mph last week(with the gear stuck down).Too much elevator throw for the maiden, but halfway into it I let her rip out of a thosand foot split ess WFO.Right in front of us I slammed full up elevator.Thing did the most violent 200 mph wall I have ever seen.It also made a noise I have never heard a model (that stayed intact) make before.I think blue eyes might've crapped his pants.Good sh*t!!Unfortunately,I got some metal to metal induced glitching that progressively worsened,so after I chewed Blue eyes' tail off in a little foamie combat,we went to drink beer instead.Jett FIRE 50 ran like a beast (as Jetts always do). We're gonna have some fun terrorizing the geriatrics again this year.Dave has done it again!![8D]

How much have you shortened the WS? I asume that you still use the same ribs just move them closer together?

I've had my eyes on a DD for quite some time and really like your idea for giving it more speed by trimming the wing. Great idea, got any video you could share?

RE: Jolly Rodgers Dust
I got some video of the "Blue Eyes" dust at our field, with the OS .46FX... it's not a speed demon like the "Bam Bam" dust with the Jett, though. If you guys want to see "Blue Eyes", I can try to get it posted on our club website...

RE: Jolly Rodgers Dust
Right click and save the file before viewing... doesn't seem to want to play directly by clicking on it for some reason. It's an 8.8MB wmv file.

All,
Flew Bam-Bam again yesterday.Motor seems stronger every time I start it.Still glitching though.Fixed the metal to metal stuff, but no joy. It's better, but still not right. The antenna is looped in the wing instead of hanging out in the breeze, like we normally do.I'll try to get it out,and if that doesn't work I'll go to a PCM rx.We'll get it on the radar after the bugs are worked out.
That ARF clipped wing dust is nice, but nothing like Dave's all sheeted machines.I'm not a fan of pushing a snare drum 200mph.Dave's the man.
