Default fast great planes big stick

This is my great planes big stick with a rhino 140 engine. The plane does about 175 mph in level flight, but still handles quite well. I needed alot of prop clearance so I utilized 1/4 scale extra 300 gears.

175 mph...... now thats fast for a stick. Did you radar these figures?

Hope them rubberbands hold your pilot down at those speeds

How much lead did you have to use to balance this Big Stik? This plane must weigh at least 10 lbs after lead.

Say Heli, not that I don't believe you (who am I to judge...), but when was the last time you had that radar gun calibrated?

Believe the guy!

He has submitted as much proof as the next guy as to speed.

A Rhino is a weed eating mammal that has been wandering the earth for several millions of years now. I is considered to be a living fossile by some.

No stinking way!!!

You would be getting so much lift from the wing that you probably couldn't trim enough down elevator.

plus, you would need like a 9 pitch turning 20,000 rpm!!!
And that is with absolutely NO drag and getting exactly 9 inches per revolution...you are pulling our chains...

The plane is weighted very nose heavy so at high speed there is not alot of down elevator needed, but alot of up elevator is needed during landing. The engines rpm is 19,000 on a 22x10 hand built prop. I run the engine on 60% nitro. I'm not pulling anybodys chain!

Default Oh, OK!

Now I believe you..19K on 22X10...

That's about 114 horse power.

Not to mention about 1245 mph tip speed. At tip speeds approaching Mach 2, I can see why the prop would have to be hand carved...

Great stuff...today was kinda boring up 'til now. Thanks for injecting a little humor into it for us!

I believe you...

However it takes 114.769 hp to turn a 22x10 prop at 19000 rpm. You have static thrust of 253.68 lbs. so your verticle should be pretty decent if you build light.

I'm impressed! Where can we go to see this beast in action!

I say!

Don't believe all those HP-predicting applets out there on the web...it could just as well be 110 or 120 HP that engine is putting out...

Default Now Rudeboy..

Don't be rude..

I'm sure we will hear more about this amazing Rhino engine. After all, with such a perfectly matched airframe, how could he go wrong??

I can understand how it would be nose heavy, though. Not the engine, but the firewall to hold all 100+ horsepower. The transom on my fishing boat doesn't have to contend with that much power.

This airplane should be dedicated to a museum as the pinnacle of aerodynamic and engine design in model aviation..nothing else can even come close to matching the technical aspects of this combo.

Predicting that horse power is incorrect. My ZDZ 80 on my1/3 scale lazer with a few mods puts out 13 hp and spins a 26x10 17,000 rpm and puts out exactly 66.8 lbs of thrust.

Heli,

what in heavens name did you do to that ZDZ to make go 17K rpm? (with a prop that is, I assume...)

I am sure there are a lot of engine tuners out there that would like to hear your solution to the problem.
