RE: Fastest Engine
Hey thanks fellows!
Fastcrasher thats a nice lookin airboat, how did it run?
I havent put her in the water yet had a little challenge getting the Jett to run right with the tanks mounted so low, got it perty much dialed in now though.
Heres a little dry test run, running rich on the breakin prop.
Test run

RE: Fastest Engine
Sounds like its running very well ..... !
If you are going to change the prop up from a break-in size, now is the time to do it.
Don't over-tweek the midrange if you intend to upsize the prop a bit. Sound perfect as is. The extra load will be a different rpm transtion.
With an agressive pipe (yours is an agressive higher rpm setup), its hard to get a 100% perfect up-and-down throttle. It will never be smooth and linear. The pipe step is just a throttle position to be avoided. Throttling up onto the pipe is at a different rpm and different fuel draw than when you throttle down off of the pipe into mid/low power.
If you think you have the "up" size dialed in perfect, the engine will go lean and sometimes blow a plug throttling off of the pipe (engine is screaming, it is hot, higher rpm the pipe is demanding of it, and then you quickly throttle down and reduce fuel.... poof!). So take the best compromise. And then work with glowplugs to deal with a slightly rich "up" transition. (the OS type F plugs sometimes help in extreme situation here.... ).
Let me know when the first flight is. (its going to run in ground effect most likely )

RE: Fastest Engine
Great... I'm right across the line in Pa. Used to do some drinking in Mr. D's country Lounge years ago. Met up with a few women from Lisbon.
I'd love to be there when you run it.

RE: Fastest Engine
Well guys heres a little water vid during some testing. The wind wouldnt let up, making the water a little too choppy for my liking.

RE: Fastest Engine
Definately, that thing needs to stretch it legs
Always look forward to Hooty posts, as well as Rmenke's.
I think you need a body of water with Salt to get the most out of that motor.
Looks very nice.
