Default O.s 50 Sx???

fastdyno:
I just installed one on my whiplash with an ultrathrust muffler, flew it for the first time yesterday & I think it is very much stronger than the 46. I think it is close to the jetfire 50, starts very easy & runs great. whiplash is very fast with this combo.

Default well..

You know- I have not seen one run as of yet but the concensus on here (and thats the best in the hobby..) is that it is noticeably stronger than the 46- I have not seen it mentioned in the same breath as the Jett 50 but it seems to be one of the hottest motors around!

Kinda pricey though-

You will find endless posts about the best engine in this class....

If I had any money whatsoever I would take:

Jett 50
YS-45
Webra 50 Speed
MVVS 49
Rossi 45
OS- 50SX

But...

Keep us posted and make sure you get a tach on that thing-

I am also trying to decide if I should put an OS 50SX on my Whiplash, or dish out the money for the Jett. Decisions, Decisions!

ckoerner:
The os50sx really came alive with the ultrathrust muffler, I havent tached it yet due to problems with my tach. I couldn't be happier with it, runs great & really screams. When I get back in from offshore I will get a new tach & check it, I will post readings in the tach readings section of this forum. By the way I am using 15% cool power fuel.

The ultrathrust mufflers are great, but when you add the cost of the O.S. .50 and the Ultrathrust, you might as well have bought the Jett in the first place.

Your right Daven, unless you can do like I did & find both engine & muffler slightly used right here on rcu, I got both items for $150.00. Bfife, if you are looking for a new one you can go to www.pspec.com & find what you are looking for, but you might list it wanted in the engine parts section of this forum & find what you are looking for, there are quite a few mufflers that will fit many different engines. the 0s46fx, irvine 53, os50sx are all the same. When I found some on here I e-mailed performance specialty & asked if the particular muffler would fit the engine I had & they sent a reply very quickly & wala im in the air.
Good luck

Default O.s 50 Sx???

No kidding it does look a lot like the ultrathrust, but my question is will it improve the performance of an engine like the ultrathrust does. I'm not sure what the actual rpm gain was due to my tach crapping out on me but from the sound & feel it seems to be a couple of thousand rpms gained with the change of mufflers. If someone would try the tower muffler I would really like to hear what the gain of rpm is. This would be a much cheaper route to go.

It will improve (Mileage may vary..) but not as much as with the UT- I would guess 600-1,000 max

Keep us posted,

Default OS 50 SX

Well I have decided to go with the new OS 50 SX in my new Patriot. Seeing as I already have a new Macs pre tuned Quite pipe and header for the 46FX which will fit the 50 SX I am going to give it a try. The Jett is a good engine but well so how the OS runs on the pipe.

I know the ultrthrust really made the os50sx come alive, I think you will be pleased with the engine.
