None of the racers use metal gears because of vibration issues. FWIW

Excellent point and well taken. I have been flying "Club Spec" Quickee 500 with nylon geared servos. The strange thing is that I have not encountered any servo failures flying Q500. Maybe due to the smaller control surfaces than my deltas? Most servo failures have been on the throttle which is not a big problem and I attribute these to harmonics. The rest have been on the elevator and one servo failure on the ailerons simply due to snapping the servo arm in half. 9 servo failures and the model was landed without incident. #10 servo failure put a hole on the ground that was quite impressive and that was an elevator failure. I would like to mention that flutter was never a problem. Usually with an elevator failure I had time to back off the throttle and get the speed down to where I regained elevator control enough to land but time and altitude were not on my side for the grand finale!

Here is a picture of my Quickees. I'm running ST S40 ABC's with Ultrathrust muffler on Powermaster 10/22. These engines really honk! The deceased "Shrike" shown in the backgroung to the left.

My need for speed started out when one of the guys I fly with sold me a phantom II propjet. Little did I know how hard it was going to be to get this 13lb plane fast... So I now have a plane that no one has identifed yet, she weighs in at 7.5lbs. I have an st g90 in her running a 12x10 prop @ 11600rpm and original muffler. My plan is to put the jett bse 90lx setup in her and see the 140's.

after a few years of mourning, self pity and the worse run of luck any man should endure, i think i am going back in the shop fix up a few things and start burning some fuel again!
a local man started a flying community before the real estate market tanked and has been begging me to fly at his airfield since he hasn't sold any lots. air strip has been clayed and packed and was actually ready to pave but he didn't get that far. i need a good swift kick in the maximus and since my best friend and flying partner passed, no one has done it!
just mulling over still, but it is a high possibility.....henry

Ditto my friend!

Revver Bro #182 chiming in here. Getting ready for another season here in N/W Ohio. Putting together a Q500 424 event and just bought materials for my second building platform/table in 34 years.

New house with "Man Cave" in basement. New building board that is 36 x 80" and flat.

I have a vintage Hobbico "Viper" on it's way and a couple deltas.

Gonna CD a 424 in August for all the local guys and the "Detroiters"

Going out tomorrow for some laughs and giggles with my F27Q Stryker to warm up the thumbs.

Putting quality bearings in my 2 new TTPro 40's and have a few new RE engines I aquired this winter.

YS 45 RF and K/B 6.5 Quickee.

I fly giant scale 3D and WW II Scale for relaxation.

God Bless America!

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!!!
