The worst plane you have ever flown

ME-109, Extra's, Giles, P-51, and the like, tapered wings with large elevator throws seems to do that with all of those. A deadstick landing was a pucker up moment, learned to just sail it in the direction it's going in, and let it come in with very little flaring if at all to keep it from rolling.

For me the worst is the stupid little 10 inch drone quad copter my son gave me for Christmas. I got a few flights in back yard and then in a tree. Retrieved it. Then went to front yard and flew maybe 4 times. Finally, it flew away. Neighbors found it 1500 ft away 4 days later. Now battery won't do anything but turn lights on. Bought 2 new batteries as determine to have some fun. Same issue, won't charge up enough to fly. Siting on work bench cause hate to throw it out as my Son(25yrs) thought of me.
wow long winded response just to say that drone thing sucked.
p.s. Firebee. Old term. I flew real drones and BQM targets for the USN in OEF.

2 planes tied for worst in my list, both warbirds:
- CmPro Zero 50 (0.5 c.i.) beautiful looking plane and very accurate scale with a fiberglass fuselage and flat olive drab paint. Everything was detailed and pretty, but you could tell the developers never flew it. It was so tail-heavy that even after adding 1.5 pounds to the nose, it was still tail heavy. I could never land it right, I would power it to landing and then when I cut power a foot off the ground, it would drop straight down. I gave it away.
- World Models Hawker Tempest- nice looking plane. The spinner would not stay on when using a starter. I had to modify the spinner to use a bigger center bolt and use a Tru-Turn adapter nut. The retracts were terrible and the plane also could not taxi without nosing over. I had to tilt the retracts forward severely. Finally after all the tweaks, our club expert was maidening it and suddenly it augered into the ground and disintegrated. We never could figure out what caused the crash, just a bad design. That was an expensive ARF too.

I don't have any planes currently that I hate, although flying my ultra micro T-28 is almost impossible if there's even a trace of any wind. My old Norvel Neofun 1/2a trainer flew like a tail heavy brick with an AP .061 in it. Hoping an FP .10 will fly it better and with a little luck a better job balancing it too.

I am just now getting into the smaller planes, size 15. I plan to make all my small planes hand launched and belly landed for weight and because I fly in a grass field. If your plane is heavy, remove the landing gear and see what happens. Less weight, less drag, and no snagging on rough ground. JMHO.

I just finished building a HOB AT6 with an old OS20. I plan on building a Screamin Demon with a Norvel 15, a PICA ME109 with an AP 15, and a SIG Kobra with an OS 25FX, all without landing gear. I am also talking to a guy at the club to sell me his Shrike 10 that has a 15 engine. Hopefully none of these will fall in the category of planes this thread is about.

I'll probably fly more smaller stuff myself when I get into it more fully next season. I have a bunch of old Enya .15IVs, an AME .049, and the little OS .10. If I can find a diesel head for the little FP10, I'll probably be the only guy at my field with a 1/2a trainer running with a diesel. I'm relegated to finding someone to machine a diesel head for me, but so far nobody has taken the bait.
I have an old Goldberg MIG-27 foam target drone I'm gonna paint up and fly also. That's my biggest plane with the second one being a kit built Mojo .25. The powerplant for the Mojo is undecided as of now.

I thought about that, but I don't know if a small cased .40 is gonna have the grunt to turn a big diameter low pitch prop. I'd have to get a few props and see what how it runs with it. I think I'd be more comfortable with using my Jett BSE .35 on it. There again, I need to get some props and try them out. The Jett likes to turn up, so it may or may not be a good candidate.

If I remember right, my ABC .40 did close to 13k on a 10x6 APC. The Jett .35 will do better than 16k on the 10x6, so I lean towards the Jett. The only problem with the Jett is it sucks fuel like crazy... I should weigh the .40 and .35. Weight is always a concern on planes, so I have to take that into consideration since I'd need a decent size fuel tank (a bubble free one to boot).

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought it was a POS. Having flown since 1974 (not necessarily well, but that's when it started), I tend to think that if I find it a pain in the butt to fly then a student is liable to have some issues.
