Default What is the fastest wing??

Iv been flying combat wings for a year now and cant get enough. I started with a standard Brushed wing on nicads and now I'm looking for pure speed.

I set my self a goal of 100 MPH and finally achieved it a couple of weeks ago. I now have a new target which is 120-150 MPH!

I Realize their are going to be some issues with achieving these speed such as; handling characteristics, structural stability, set up, motor, speed controller, Li-Po's etc....

What is the best model to try this with and what setup would be recommended??

There's some good threads in the Foamies forum. There's several Zagi setups their getting that fast (Let me rephrase that... Claiming to go that fast ). Take a look.

I believe that the Rite Wing Demon powered by a Mega 16/15/4 on 6S lipos is currently the fastest. They are running in the 130 mph range. I have a Zagi XS with the same drivetrain, on 4S. I will swear on a stack of bibles that it has been radared at 100 mph!

Speed costs $,,, How fast do you wanna go!?

The standard 'wings' like Zagis and such take a bit of horsepower to go fast so it gets $$$ for every extra 10mph you want to go. Chris Klick from Rite Wings is king of the hill in that scene (he did 175 last year), but many guys are using the Micro-jets and Projetis with modest power systems to go over 100mph. Do take note that most of the guys running 120-130 are beefing the wing up with extra carbon rods and filament strapping tape techniques to keep things stiff. If you just add power to the typical wing it can flutter apart.

Best bet is to tune into one of the flying wing discussions.
