Default Project Glow convertion for flying wing MPX (TWINJET)

OK here is the project
EDIT SPECIAL: the wrong name (twinstar) should be twin jet so all Twin star reedit with twin jet

take a twin electric motor MPX TWINJET delta plane and convert it to glow 25 OS FX

Not a new idea as I saw it fly in Spain complements of the LHS angel model in Malaga region

They did it with a glow 32 pusher prop 7.5*6 which in dives must be hittiing 110mph easy

tomorrow I buy the same plane but mine will be tractor on a extra rear mounted tail or a front nose job haven't decided except most likely will be former tail mounted option

to much trouble for me to mail order a reverse pitch prop from angel model

I want a quick easy to build easy to fly plane to revive my glow skills after 10 years in in electric so I can bring a few glows on holidays with me along with fast small electrics pylons as the bigger electrics would need generators to recharge and glow fuel is easier and cheaper to get on holidays and I am still swimming in glow motors from 1995 era

This model will refine my delta abilities so that when I do the same delta idea using a OS90 VR DF with a prop 12*8 cut down to 10*8 I should be able to keep on top of the 150mph speeds
So where possibile will put up pics

for now a rough sketch drawing of the idea is shown

Default RE: Project Glow convertion for flying wing MPX twinstar

pics

first pic shows plane MPX TWINJET with no motors

second pic shows plane with extra tail and engine mount

third pic shows motor mounted onto engine mount upside down and prop in tractor

fuel tank not shown will be on the tail also behind motor and mayby later will do a bladder tank in the nose sections

The motor will be capable to be removable and i could then do wemotec mini fan with FAI kontronik 480 5500kv with 8*gp2200

unfortunately the MPX TWINJET generally brick walls at some 110 mph due to thick wing foil so it will never win speed competition

But for cheap bouncy fun plane that suits a hot 25 like my OS 25 fx or Super tigre 25 or others hot 32 motors with the simpler system of pusher prop it a hoot

Default RE: Project Glow convertion for flying wing MPX twinstar(TWINJET)

Project is trundling along after delay to get hold of plane
non in the all the various LHS and ordering would take toooo long
Lucky one sales assistant guy in one LHS had one to sell second hand rarely flown with 800 watt electric systemminus a aerlon cheap less than $40 with no equipment which suited me

First problem is the option to go to the far rear requires a huge amount of lead to conter balance????
I should have checked that out when I saw the pusher versions i think they used light weight 25 and 32 motors such as thunder tigre
OS25 FX is a tad heavier
They didnt tell me the balalce problem
It regures for the OS FX 25 three sets of 4 cell 600mha packs to balance out motor on rear before adding tanls and bracket hold on systems

I scrapped rear end optio and went for mid engine mount as per drawing

Fist drawing motor draged forward
second drawing with same piture reduced and motor blown up in size
third drawing the side view with mid engine mount

the drawing largly speak for themselfs

The rear pusher prop system works well with 25 to 32 glow motors but I dont know what keeps it in place

my system is different and in drawing is what I have done to date

I dont know if it works and might wreck the plane finding out as the centre position might cause problems in flight or the top heavy nature whatever

If it works there will be a lot of drag but motor prop well protected in crash but difficult to get at for starting and risks wrecking plane in crash as the box holder inside the plane

pros and cons

hope to finishh it tonight and fly sunday if it dosnt rain

fingers crossed

hope to get cmaera going

Pic

the elevons are not on and the servos and rc gear not in
just a tast

the motor mount pylon is held with a single bolt at the root not in place for photo

tank is 4 onz 100cc tank
prop is a 8*6
later might cut down to 7.5 inch or less

if it works ok will make more streamlined form for the motor tank
later might try a blader tank in the fuse

keep you posted
