Default Cermark Update F-18/F-16 propjets

Called Cermark to order the F-18 today and was told that they could ship me the plane but w/o Retracts. Hmmmmmmmmmm, he did mention to me that the Retracts, F-16's and even the ME-109 should be in the next container that should be here mid next month.

Should I still order or wait til it all can be shipped?

Just thought I would update those interested.

If your just charged for the plane whats the harm.
When the retracts arrive, second shipment, second payment.
Guess youd get hit twice for shipping?

Hey everyone. I got my f-18 on the 31st. IT is a neat looking plane! I got through a lot of stuff today. I have a question for you all. I am new to air retract systems and I went through and did everything by the book with mine. Now I haven’t pressurized the system yet and checked for leaks or anything but my question is, once you pressurize the system and there are no leaks do you ever have to do it again? Also do I need to do anything with the tees and fittings like a small clamp or a little CA on them to keep them secure on the lines?

when I check my gear for leaks I put 100lbs of pressure in the system with the gear up leave overnight or 2... no leaks put the gear down
overnight or two. no leaks GO FLY.. you should check your system after a couple of flights just in case something came loose..
then every so often.

Cermark is reputable enough. Who know's maybe when they get the retract shipment in, they may be out of stock on the plane?

You do not clamp the tubes...... the barb fittings are pleanty to hold the system together.

System leaks .... I wouldnt worry about it too much. In the past the biggest leak source was the valve. The valve used here is pretty good.

If I am not mistaken, the F-18 comes with spring gear.

I have the air retract version,, i have found that by leaving the wheels in the up position--when not flying---> the valves got a nasty leak,, so while i don't fly the i leave the wheels in the down position,, and now i havn't had a leak since,,---- when i say while not flying i mean--> when im not at the flying field that day, or week,,,

That plus I find that the springs or something get a memory when stored up... maybe the grease in the cylinder setting up???

I didn't get pne at all, Called them up and they sent a red F-16 spinner out that they painted blue. Looks good enough though. In my opinion, the cut outs for the prop are way to small. I had to grind them out just to fit a 12-8 prop. Back plate and spinner were both out of balance. Be sure you balance them.
