PHOENIX MODELS F-20 TIGERSHARK Recomendations
Guys, I am going to order one of this PHOENIX MODELS F-20 TIGERSHARK.
I am going to install a Weston 50 engine with his respective Tune Pipe.
Were I fly is all grass.......... So I have to take off from a grass runway
So here are my questions:
What prop size you recomend me to use with this engine set up?
What size aluminum spinner do I have to order for this plane?
Any othere advise?
THX,
Isaac

RE: PHOENIX MODELS F-20 TIGERSHARK Recomendations
it might be a good idea to upgrade the control horns while your at it..there have been some failures...since your using the weston 50v1 with pipe you might want to think about converting it to accepting retracts at least on the mains which would mean small mods to the wings the nose gear gets a bit trickier but I'm sure it wouldn't be to much of a hassel, that would make better use of such a power house.
I've been looking to do the same to mine, I might even make the wing smaller .Most have shortened it by cutting back a bay or two, but I might make a whole new wing which has less cord shorter span and a narrower airfoil
cheers and good luck with it, yours should do well with the West, that motor seems to be best suited to 8 X * props along with that pipe, you should be ok with that but you might need some runway length . I would be tempted to try a 9 x 7 but since I dont own a West that might not be the best recommendation ..some others should chime in and let you know what might work better. I hope the pipe wont foul the nose gear as you mount the engine on the side rather than upright..but again not to much of a dilemma
you could also do a search on the phoenix F20 in this forum as there was a thread dealing with the issues your asking about.

Well, This Weston engine and pipe is from my Magnum and with this Airplane I was using a 9x7 APC prop.
I was asking about the prop because since my runway is grass and very inregular. I dont know if with this 9x7 prop it will need a lot of runway to take off.

Its a bit plane, but if the pipe and engine are set for the 9x7, keep running that on the F-20
You can also try a 10x6 - should stay on the pipe with that too without any adjustments.
The weston pipe is not real critical on being just a touch short.

Get the regular TT Ultimate, you selected the wide slots, you won't be running a 3D prop on that plane. The F-20 don't hover good.

You will need to check with Tru Turn to get the correct thread spinner nut and get a Part # for the 2.50 Ultimate Spinner (no wide slots), it looks like you will need to email Tower with the part numbers, if you can use a 2.25 here's links, have fun, captb
