Default OS 91 FX ENGINE COOLING QUESTION

Today at my flying field I had a person give the opinion that I may not be getting adequate cooling with my cowl design. I would think with the whole cylinder sticking out that there would be sufficient cooling air. But this is Florida in the summer. Just asking opinions from this group. Thanks, RH

The cylinder cooling fins and head are exposed so why would there be a problem? I say you are fine and it gets hot in Oklahoma too.

Better find some other guys to talk too. You may be a Florida in the summer. We're at Albuquerque at 5000ft with an average DA of 7500, your fine. bit of a power loss due to the area like me but cooling, I doubt it.

You're not going to get any better cooling than that. Your engine head is exposed completely. Might want to try an apc 11x9 for that screamer instead of that MS prop.

Thats a beautiful plane! What is it? How effective are the rudders? Can you give us a rundown on servos and specs?
Thanks

WMB, here is the website http://www.btemodels.com/vortex.html for the model. Rudder effectiveness I can't answer yet. I really haven't tried delta wing spins. Although, it probably doesn't spin but makes really tight turns. This one has Hitec 5475 digital servos for the elevons. Hitec 475HB servos for the rudders. Hitec 225MG mini high torgue servos for the throttle, nose wheel steering and retract valve. Spring Air 700 series retracts. It is an extremely stable flying plane that is reasonably fast.

The cyl open like that is about as cool as you can get it. If you have a problem with it, your probably running a bit to lean, if you think it is running a bit hot richen it up some more.
