Default PHOENIX MODELS F-20 TIGERSHARK vs Patriot

which one would be faster with a Jett .90 both using the best of everything for speed?

Now not everyone all get up at once now..

SJ that is an extra large version of the Patriot. I wonder if he meant the 'standard' size Patriot?

A 90 in the small Patriot would require a lot of tail wait no?I have the smaller size Patriot with the Jett 60 in it all most done can't wait.

I have the Phoenix F-20 and the SA F-20. The Phoenix has a larger wing span and is quite a bit slower than the SA. I do have the West Eorotech V1 on the Sa and a TT 46 Pro on the Phoenix. I just think that the larger wingspan would slow the Phoenix. I would think that the Patriot if built light and with retracts would be a faster plane.......

Yes, the .90 is a bored out STANDARD Jett .60.

However, the .60 LX is a bored out .40!

yes... that is in a round about way accurate. [&:]

The BSE-40L is the same as the BSE-25 size wise
Puts out nearly the same power as the regular size SJ-40, and darn close to the SJ-46 too.
In fact, the 40L has become a standard of performance in the control line market for small block engines.

Although
the Jett 90 actually started out as the long ago SJ-65 engine.... and subsequent SJ-76

Speed Junkie & Guys:

That sir, is a thing of beauty, underlying is a beast, with the potential of being tretcherous.. The retracts will clean up the very dirty draggy aspect for the most part. If you did away with the fakie air intakes on the side, and you don't have a extension in the pipe, this thing should move out quite well, maby, just maby quite quick. If thats the LX version of the 90, add 20-30 mph. The 60 LX would not pull that size airframe without complaint, or at least any of my 2 would not. But they will slip into a Q-500 airframe and look like a 40 or so and get you up to "Oh my God" speeds. That thing of yours is worth playing with prop sizes to find the optimum prop for the beast. Its not going to be rpm's that get you there, but rather correct pitch the motor is happy with IMHO. I maby gave up on the 90L and Alley Cat combo too soon. Every once in a while the thing calls to me, and we go out to play. It keeps getting faster and faster, and faster as I play with props and needle. Being forced to use the extension, I end up with more grunt than rpm, and I am back to the stock red muffler as apposed to the yellow LX version. Pull the extension off and the yellow LX version is far superior, a dog with it in place. RAZOR: This thing is not cheating, its a well thought out and executed pushing the limits of the edge of the rules thing. Sort of like the 500 Sq. In. rule. Some run a 520" 52" wing, mine is 500.001". Cheating would be running a BVM .96 fan engine that will turn a 10 X 10 26,000. Yea, must admit there has been some though in this direction as the open warbird guys are in the 170 mph range with the inferior OS VRDF90. Not bad. Some day I may figure out how to run that GD pipe through the interior of the airframe without heat problems. Would like some asbestos, but a little hard to find these days. GOOD LUCK SJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just think that the larger wingspan would slow the Phoenix.
What about the clipped wing version?

I wish the guy who did this would tell us how it flew. This is a photochopped picture of mine but there was a guy who posted a pic of one he actually clipped the wings off.

Gang:

Razor right as usual. Did one with a 90L, flew fine, was a dog as to speed, a 40 Kayos faster, but no retracts. Thought of building a new fuse for the wing which seams ok, but it sits on the wing rack waiting for other prioritys to be done. Gotta have retracts for any chance to scoot. ENJOY
