Default FARCE-1

I have completed the Nitro Planes Kangaroo. I call it the FARCE-1

Farce-1 since itis a clone of the Balsa USA Force-1, also I fly a Comp-ARF Kangaroo Jet I need not call it a Roo.

It was a black friday sale when it was ordered. And several modifications were made.

1) A hitec thin wing servo HS-125 was mounted in the Stab for the elevator they had 2 Micros in the wings.
2) Dual rudders were added & servos mounted in the wing. Better for crosswind landings.
3) Spring air #305 retracts installed to this "retract ready" plane. Nose gear mount altered.
4) Most of the chineeze hardware tossed out.

It will be flown on my Futaba 9CAP radio R-148DP Rx. Utilizing the elevon and 3- P-mix for flight.

Power is an OS .50 SX with a pitts type muffler for down wind exaust. APC 10x7P prop.

Delta wings typically need a lot of elevator, so I have JR sport 125MG servos on the Elevons, and P-MIX to ch6 (flap) to run the elevator servo.

P-MIX 2 & 3 are for the nose gear steering. For the P-MIX selecton is my dual rate rudder switch. I fly off of pavement and use high rate for taxi and turning on the tarmac. Low rate is used for take off and landing.

Will have to wait for spring to come before flying.

Comming soon my two new Diamond Dusts.....

Looks great.
These are the mods of force 1 drawn and made by me.
These ugly deltas do not have special names, but I really like them.

Do your canards pivot or are they fixed?

Very cool planes, the Balsa USA deltas were the only deltas I saw turn up locally for many years. Most of them turned out too heavy to be great flyers, with all the layers of 4 oz cloth, Bondo and Hobbypoxy. Of course some of the local builders should never quit their day jobs as millwrights, iron workers, brick layers, etc.

That's got to be a big improvement over some of the old lead sleds that used to show up here and they didn't have retracts either.

The patriot had mechanical retracts with lots of problems. then I changed all of them.
I never used and even saw pneumatical ones. No idea about them.
Do you suggest them?

Hey Crazy4Flight

What is the maximum size prop that can be fitted on this plane?......would it accommodate a .75 engine?.....and....how much altering of the nose gear mount did you have to make to fit the 305 nose gear?

Thanks

I did a build thread in the ARF forum.

I took out the two blocks for the flushmount gear and installed a pywood plate 1 1/4" deep.
used lots of triangle stock to keep it in place.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_67...angaroo/tm.htm

prop dia is limited to 11" by the width of the prop slot between the wings 11.7"
ground to center of prop is 7.25 " standing on the gear...but as it rotates more like 6.75"

now if you did elevons and elevator servo like I did... then you could cut the corner of the wing out just in front of where the micro servo elevator pocket. 2nd pic redlines and X. possible use a 13" prop

I have the Bobcat flying with a Jett Engineering .50 BSE with fixed gear.

I have not flown the Farce-1 aka Kangaroo yet we got more snow this morning.

The fibreglass fuse of the bobcat makes it about a 1/2 pound heavyer add the fixedgear drag...speed estimates??? about the same.

Gear mounts in wing of bobcat are JUNK! it is not fully supported! It is glued to a rib from the trailing edge half way up to the main spar, what a joke. I had to mount aluminum gear to the bottom of the fuse. Also the supplied chineeze landing gear wire is tooo soft. replace nose gear with a fults unit.
