I have a Rossi 60 engine. I am looking for an ARF that is just fast. 120mph+ is there anything out there?

sure. I don't have one but can get one. I come across this engine from a flying buddy and don't know what to use it for. I have it in a H9 P-51 arf now. Flys the heck out of it. But I feel it is just a waste of such a fine engine.

There isn't much out there in a 60 size plane. You'll have to stuff it in
another 46 size plane most likely.

Yes, there is much but in Germany and Austria if you can get your hand on their
Cobras. Otherwise Lancair of GP with certain modifications is pretty fast too.

NikolaTT:

Cobra is right on the money for a go faster. From whom are they available? Looks like the design is for ultra high speed in a streight line. Will they turn decently? Looks ideal for the OS 91VRDF or BVM. Need to get some wear time on a couple of VRDF's, or sell them. Thanks ENJOY

Rmenke,

I do not know details for the current sourses. About couple years ago
friend of mine purchased similar one from Simprop (or Multiplex) but later the
company was sold to HiTec and turned to production mostly of small
flat-outs.

Certianly there are some manufactures in Germany but I do not know
them; maybe some German guys who is on RCU could tell; I am also
iinterested to buy one.

Currently there are similar models from Weston, and here
is the link for one popular distributor; otherwise Weston is based in
UK and maybe sales in USA; also fast engines:
http://shop.lindinger.at/product_inf...ducts_id=50074
This one is also very fast thing ...

But not a great choice for a .60 size engine. A small block .60, i.e. .46 size, sure.

One of the old .40 size pattern aircraft would definitely motor on a piped .60 and give you the speed you're looking for plus decent flight characteristics. Heck, even a modded Kaos .40 might be the ticket, I dunno?

Good Questions Guys,

Unfortunately I have "orthogonal" answer only:

- After seeing the following things:

1. Many guys do not find those ARFs and buid them. Seems there is
some one in Germany who still makes them, but I do not know who,
Simprop or Multiplex or someone not known. Anyway the Germans
have hell of cometitions with thoise Speedy class, bigger than Q500.
I guess they call it F3S. Also many guys make the propellers themself
and that could turn deadly if the propeller breaks in pieces; there
might be some maker somewhere.

2. The plane is still small even with .91 engine and is trouble to see it
well while flying with that speed - you need distance where you loose
the plane from sight easily.

Then I came to conclusion that I will modify the GR Lancair and
place on it 25cc Engine (instead of the 10cc) with tuned pipe - then
I might get some good speed and longer than couple min.flight.
Surely it is not going to be as fast as those Cobras, but it is going
to be very fast anyway and seen well enough. I.e. kind of Scale
Racer, as Scale of those who race in Reno with real Lancair.

Anyway, if there is avaialable some ARF Cobra for .61 of .91 please
let us know. Also I think that this Weston could handle the Webra .55
and that is hell of power in the body if .46 engine; thus the speed is
going to be pretty high. Also I do not know about that Rossi, but it
should be not too heavy to fit in there.

Anyway, a good start point is to see at

http://www.rc-network.de/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=168

Unfortunately only in German, but there the guys might answer
in English if asked politely.

Maybe you could shoehorn your engine into a Shrike .40 ARF, if they are still available. I was also going to recommend the Tower Kaos ARF. They are really pretty fast and fly very well.

The Tower Kaos has a fat wing and slab sides in the front.....not good for speed. []

A Patriot kit would be Ok, or a hopped-up Killer Kaos kit...

....either one modified for speed.

Maybe it is better to go for a scratch build - it is not that dificult, at least the second one
will get you to the point you want to be and then you will not buy anymore any ARF.
Frankly, the ARF need so many modifications that I do not buy anymore any ARF.
Of course there are maybe very good ARF but they are so expensive to fly & crash.
