Well SpeedBoy, that is certainly the fastest speed I've ever heard of for a Patriot. That is right about 30 MPH faster than mine was.

Congratulations!

This makes my want to take out the ole TT46 and go for some serious power in my Patriot. The 46 pulls pretty well with tuned pipe but nowhere near the speeds you are reaching.

Well , maybe if you put on it a rossi 53 can help you

This engine (rossi 53 ) is a big one to me , when I put in a dave my patriot , the rpm increased seriously even with 10x8 apc , I dont know how much exactly , but scream like a angry cat and the rpm keep constant , never lose the thrust [sm=thumbs_up.gif]

It could be a good option !

YS .45 (side exhaust) with the Mac's pre-tuned pipe setup, Magnum #1 fuel, APC 10 X 7 to 10 X 9. I only checked the RPM once and I cannot remember which prop I was using at the time but I do remember ground RPM was right around 16k.

I flew this setup before I learned what I now know about props, engines and racing. If I still had it, I would try 9 X 9 or even more pitch.

In my list of projects-to-get-to-some-day, I want to build a better, new and improved Patriot. Glass fuse with rounder lines, thinner wing with a true racing airfoil, slightly smaller in every dimension, and using an old racing motor and APC racing props for power. Yet again, if I ever get my hands on a Jett .50 RE or even better a .60 LX, I would use that for power.

Fun stuff!

js3 : Thanks for data .

I think if you had 16k probably was with 10x7 , I have a YS 45 in my ultra sport , tuned pipe 7.5 cc 15,500 10x7 , Power Master 10% maybe with 20% nitro it could have a little more .

Apparently we thought the same project , a patriot modified [sm=thumbs_up.gif] but I think in a rossi 60 speed rear exhaust for enclousure the pipe in side of fuse (up side).

I have the idea to modify the wide of the airfoil wing , as thin as it is possible , but I have a doubt , maybe you can help me .

I dont know if in this case , works better a wing airfoil symmetrical or semisymmetrical , what do you think ???

I hope that my message is understood

Yeah, I'd try to enclose the pipe too and make a pressure cowl.

As for symmetrical or asymmetrical airfoil, it probably doesn't matter that much. Tight, pylon style turns aren't necessary so the airfoil selection isn't as critical in my opinion. That said, Martin Hepperle and Michael Selig have lots to choose from. Remember, the wing must be thick enough to accommodate retracts.

The Rossi .60 is a beast! But it weighs a lot.

Yes that is true , maybe I can fixed , with a little modification on the wing , I'll try make a piece of carved wood ( aerodynamic ) up side of the wing , just over retractil , mmmm for one better explanation, tomorrow I show you a drawing with the piece that I mention and I would to know what you think of that .

Jett-60LX
Jett-50
West-50
YS-45

Then the rest... I am a HUGE Rossi fan and I have owned, ran, and tested the Rossi-45 and 53 against all my other stuff. It was behind the Jett-50, West-50, and Webra-50GT. I am not here to rain on your parade (I do not care for speeds anyhow, it is about fun- See Speed Junkies posts) but I do not believe you hit 170 with that thing and a Rossi-53 and that set-up. Sorry---

My Patriot and Jett-50 w/ retracts, 9x9 apc maybe hit 120 on a good day----170? My Jett powered Whip never even hit that

a 10x7 is never gonna do much, a 9x9 is what I ran on my SJ-50 Powered Patriot(s) and it rocked. About 16.4 I think on the 9x9 apc

O yeah , I listen Speed Junkies , and believe me I enjoy each second when fly my patriot , you do not doubt it .

Some friends have in his f-20 and patriot jett-50 and none reaches the speed that I have . !!! Clocked with the same radar !!!

I understand that it is difficult to believe the speed that I said, but who knows how to have the peak of rpm of a Rossi 53 with 10x8 in a dave and the push relation that this generating the same one . I almost sure that they are more of 18,000 rpm (with 10x8 ) , possibly this it is the point more important to understand the result .

I showed the photos with registered speed , I no say , say the radar .

Maybe when you see the video you can believe me .

By the way, you do not imagine that speed you could obtain with a 10x7 apc.

Hi Mark 5 :

When I building put in a 10 o.z , then of 2 years I had to remove it to check it , and I could not put it again, I did not have another option that to put one but slightly small 8 o.z

Now I can fly just around 6 min. with 8 o.z. and immediately landing .

What zize do you have in yours ??? with that YS .61 I hope that is one but more big

SpeedBob, I have a 14oz. fuel tank between formers f2 and f3.This is enough for an 8 to 9 min. flight.I have no problems with the tank this far from the engine because the YS60 has a fuel pump. There is also no pitch change as fuel is sucked up by the YS.
