Hi Hector, how do you do friend? i remembered greatly from you just now... Rossi announced a new version from the 53 called the 53"HP" with a bigger carb, and i wonder this engine one bolted in your patriot. power rating is 2.3 Hp at 18.000 rpm, nice for the Patriot. the code from it is Rossi 53 HP Engine & Tuned Silencer 67R53L

Hey , how are you my friend !!
Thanks for remember me and share the info .
I saw the new Rossis just yesterday at night , it seems that now comes with more power due to the bigger carb , I asked to Sahak ( from SG MODEL ENGINES ) about that and he told me that the power will increase from 10 to 20 % compared with the normal (8 mm intake ) that sounds really good to me .
I think the dimensions are the same than the other ones so I suppose it can fit on my patriot , If some day my Rossi needs to be changed this will be the replace of course my Rossi 53 ( red head ) still has good compression though .
Althoug I'm considering buy a 60 Rossi for a project that I'm building now [8D].
Thanks again for share the info
Uma abraço!

Take care and happy flights .

RE: PATRIOT AT 170 MPH !!!!!!!
hi
I finished my patriot 3 weeks ago. Weiught of my patriot is 7,5 lb with 7 servos, pipe and pneumatic retracts. I install Weston WEST-50H motor and tuned pipe ( http://www.westonuk.co.uk/index_021.htm ). With APC 9×8 i reach 17500 rpm on ground, but the speed in air is somewere about 130-140 mph.
I tried wit APC 9×7 and i reached 18800 rpm on ground, but the speed was lower than with 9×8.
My wish is to reach 170 mph.
Do you think that i could try let say with 10×8 or it will be to big prop for weston engine?
P.S.
searching for kit 1 month, 3 days to get it from UK, 19 days for bild it to rtf

RE: PATRIOT AT 170 MPH !!!!!!!
Hi Pegasus ,
Nice Patriot you did . Thanks to share it here .
I've never had a Weston engine and I have read just a little about it , but it seems that is ported to spin a smaller props than a 10x8 , probaby the 9x8 is the best way to go particulary to this combo (Patriot/Weston) I would try a 9x9 to see if the engine is able to running well but IMO a 10x8 is too much load for the Weston.
Let's wait and see if someone with more knowledge on the Weston engine can give us an input .
Now let me make you a question Pegasus , did you say that you build the Patriot in just 19 days ???? [X(]
tIANci thanks for the thoughts . If you built a Patriot please share it with us .

The problem that you might run into with the Patriot is that with its frontal area, a 9" prop may be too small to pull it efficiently. The West 50 V1 is a very powerful engine, but with two strokes you need rpm rpm rpm to get big power, and it is tuned for peak power up in the 20k rpm range. In order to get it to run up there, you need a small enough prop. Then, for that prop to work you need an airframe whose drag is low enough that the prop can get it up somewhere approaching pitch speed, otherwise you waste a lot of energy running the prop at a less efficient angle of attack.
So it may be that a "torquier" engine, an engine tuned for peak horsepower output in the ~17-18k range and can therefore put its best horsepower into a larger diameter prop, may haul the Patriot faster than a West .50V1 can - even though its peak rated horsepower is less. Conversely the West may always have the edge on the smaller aircraft that can make use of that high rpm horsepower.
In summary, you certainly will need to experiment with props to find the best combo for that airframe, but keep in mind the engine's need to spin high. Load it down much more than that 9-8 and it will not like it, and you will be falling way off the fun part of the V1's powerband.

RE: PATRIOT AT 170 MPH !!!!!!!
Thank you for your answers.
I testest with 8×8 (20000 rpm) and 8×9 (19600 rpm) but the static power was only 2kg- the weight of the plane is 3,4 kg, so there wasn't enough power for take off.
So, we need new motor
I was thinking on Webra Racing 61F C ( http://www.webra-austria.at/motor.ph...der=AERO〈=EN ) . This should be enough, a guys?
Speedboy, yes. I build it in 19 days.
Schedule for these 19 days was:
Monday-Friday:
6:00am - 5:00 pm (on work)
5:00pm - 1:00am (working patriot)
1:00am - 6:00am (sleeping)
Saturday - Sunday
7:00am-2:00am (working patriot)
2:00am-7:00am (sleeping)
And last few days a was really tired.
P.S. the whole plane i glued with wood glue (not CA)

RE: PATRIOT AT 170 MPH !!!!!!!
Wow , 19 day to built a Patriot that's impressive to me , I don't know why I get the feeling that I built verrry SLOOOW lol .
Yes I thing the Webra 61F C is more than enough power for your purpose , I remember someone saying the Webra 55 GT was able to move a 9x10 @ 17,000 RPM wich are very respectable numbers and if the 61 has even more power you can use a more aggressive pitch or one inch more ( 10" ) producing enough thrust to load and move your 7,5 lb Patriot .
I've searched here tachometer readings of the 61C F but I have not found anything.
Someone has some numbers ???
