Default Looking for a medium super agile snappy wicked plane!?

Hi there everyone!

I am in the market for a new plane. I want something that is really quick and nimble, extremely fast, quite aerobatic. Maybe a smaller plane with an oversized engine, not too nose heavy. I saw one I loved but couldnt tell what it was, it was smokin' when it came by, and poppin' out snap rolls that were super tight and fast. Not sure I want a wing type if I can avoid it. I was looking at a Diamond dust and a shrike, which I may end up with. But a more normal looking one if I could get the speed and agility out of it. I know I dont want a big plane. I want a supersonic smaller/medium sized plane! Anyone know any suggestions... I have flown all kinds of planes so I can handle it...

Anyone flown one of these great planes? I think most of them can take a .46-.61 or .70, I though a .90 was the same size and could just bolt on to get some more out of it...? Though Im not sure they got enough arse? I dont want a belly lander either.

Little Toni
Cap 580
Revolver
SIG "Something Extra"

Ok so now that I have been looking heres my check list

- Fun-fly
- Snappy and sharp like a razor
- Very responsive
- Medium to smaller size
- Capable of most aerobatics, quick and violent
- Looks would be nice but not necassary
- I can make it haul arse with a performance engine like Jett

I want it to look wicked!

I flew a Midwest .20 size "ugly stick" for a few years with a Webra .50 on it. The only mod to the plane was moving the firewall back, and a larger rudder. It never fluttered and was capable of quite alot for a cheap and simple plane.

Outlaw! It's fast and just crazy, super, agile & snappy Smaller than a diamond dust and real easy to launch & land. Not as fast as a Diamond Dust but it can do more tricks. Stick a OS32 , APC 9x6 and a Macs pre-tuned pipe on it an call it good, nah.... call it fantastic. More engine power will go a tad faster but eat your flight time.
Comming back soon from Extreme Flight!

Go to the last couple of pages for pics and details of the Extreme Flight ARF version. Or order plans from Jerry Smith. Oh, it is a belly lander and you said no to that, but it otherwise fits your criteria so well that you should take a hard look before moving on.

My Outlaw, shown with a Webra Speed 35 ringed as it was when I purchase it from C. Roundy (Maker of the Slip Stream) a few years ago.The Webra is just as fast as a OS 32. Currently has a Thunder Tiger 39 Pro Heli mounted. It's faster but the flights are 4 minutes with 30% nitro.
I like the OS 32 best all-around.

Oh, Mine has 3 wire skids on it. It wont hurt it's belly, it's had over a hundred landings. For hard smooth surface only. Can be flop in on tall soft grass if you must if you can't make the runway.

I was talking with another gent... I have a friend who may get rid of his shriker 40, I may just pick that one up & get something else as well.

I am wondering after talking with him what an ultr sport 40 or 60 would be like with a larger engine...? Like a Jett, Rossi or a .71-.90?

Neither of those will be anything like as wild as an Outlaw, but they can certainly be overpowered nicely for a lot of fun.

Here it is in a "nut shell" based on I have personally experienced (flown) with the same type of engine (YS 45 RE)
The Diamond Dust (standard wing) and the Whiplash deltas have about the same top speed level flight. The Whiplash is cleaner but heavier and only faster out of a dive. It is more rugged. Unfortunately it is no longer made and was expensive.

The Diamond Dust can make a much harder 90 degree direction changes than the Whiplash because its lighter and it won't high speed stall, perhaps the most violent, sudden 90* than any other aircraft. The Diamond Dust will hopefully be available again soon. For maximum maneuvering and aircraft survival when using high output 45 or larger engines, you must use high torque, high speed, high dollar servos on these two deltas. The Dust's battery area's floor must be reinforced!

The Screamin Demon may be every bit as good as the other two deltas, but I haven't seen or tried one and it is available.

The Outlaw is a bit slower and smaller in size and engine (OS 32) than the other deltas, but it can do more. It's high speed roll rate and high speed flat spin is outrageous a.k.a "Kentucky Pile driver".

The Viper 500, a quickie 500 pylon racing plane, is slower than the first two deltas. Its roll rate is poor. It may not make as hard a 90 degree turn as the Dust, but it will carry the speed though 180 degree turns or loops much, much better. Blink and the loop has just happened. The Viper should have some easy mods done.

I had a shrike 40 arf (w/ landing gear) and it was slower than everything that I have mentioned except the Outlaw. It was the hardest to land (Land it hot or it stalls) and it could not turn near as hard as any of the others because the wings would high speed stall with a lot of up elevator. It did have the highest roll rate of any plane I’ve flown or seen. Just a blur in the sky.

I have an Ultra Sport 40 kit still in the box. Looking at the drawings it would take some mods to keep it together if you do aggressive maneuvers with a large Jett on it.

----------------Fun Factor----Shock Factor-----Speed Thrill
Whiplash-----------8---------------6-----------------10
Diamond Dust------9--------------10-----------------10
Outlaw-------------10-------------10------------------8
Viper 500-----------8--------------9------------------9
Shrike 40 arf--------7--------------6-------------------8

These are only my opinions and you won't change my mind until I’ve seen otherwise.
Others may have had different results

Take a peak at a plane called " Flying Machine". It is currently out of production, but EastRC is bringing it out as an ARF. They are currently in the prototype steps. The plane is fast and will snap roll quick and clean. It was designed by Don Muddiman and he flys it in shows and demos. Look at the pic and see if it is the plane that you saw.

I saw where Jett engineering h as a set up putting a .90 on a Little Toni, I wonder how well that performs. I have yet to see a flight log on it.

I forgot to mention the Hots. That is definitely a wicked aircraft with big power. A Miss Martha would also fill that bill.
