Default YS 1.10FZ and what plane?

I have a spare NIB YS 1.10 and I am looking for a plane for it. I have a new WM Midget Mustang laying on the bench, but I do not know if they would make a nice combo or not. I am looking for something that will be able to handle a nice grass field flying site. I like the looks of the Kelly, but am also kinda interested in the Dago Red Mustang. Will the retracts handle grass fields. My flying site is very mice and smooth. I allready have another YS 1.10S in a Funtana X100 and 1.40S in my Yak 54, so I am looking for a plane that can scoot to round out the hanger. I wish I had not sold my trust old Shoestring. Any recommendations welcome. After I find a plane for this engine, I have NIB YS .63 that needs a home too.

Well IMHO, I like the 60 size World Models P-51 or the Dago Red. I have both airplanes and the same engine as you in my WM P-51. Flies great and has been clocked at 136mph. My Dago Red is still in the box and one day plan on using a YS110 for it as well. Some people here on RCU split the elevator push rod and use a control horn on each elevator side for the Dago Red.

Hands down, use your YS in a WM P-51 and you won't be sorry.

I have three recommendations :

1. World Models Dago Red
2. World Models Dago Red
3. World Models Dago Red

The Dago has the fiberglass fuselage. It has retracts installed as well. As you can
see the engine fits like a glove, and has super cooling This is a .91FZ, but it is the
same size as the 1.10. It will eat just about any sport plane at the field for lunch.

Mine runs on PowerMaster 20/20 with 4 ozs. castor added.

FBD,
Are you flying off grass with the DAGO. I guess nobody likes the WM Midget Mustang idea.[]

What size spinner does the Dago take. I have a few NIB true turns laying around.

I don't know about flying one off grass, I fly off a dry lake bed. The Dago comes with
a metal spinner....I think they are three inch.

Does anyone have experience with the WM Midget Mustang. Since I fly off of grass, I am wondering if this would be a better platform. I do not know if I need 130 mph, but over 100 would be nice.

The Midget Mustang might be good, especially if you could move the landing gear forward
an inch or two to avoid nose-overs. The gear on the old Dagos was weak and would bend
unless the touchdown was perfect on a plain surface. I don't know if they improved them.
I replaced mine with Hobbico's as I recall, and they are OK now.

I wouldn't have wanted to use the original gear on grass. []

I don't know how long the wheel pants on the Mustang will last on grass. You know how that goes.

FBD,
I really miss the Shoestring I had. I sold it to a friend to make way for the Yak 54 and Funtana X100. I also needed a couple more new YS's, so I got rid of the Tower .75 powered Shoe. I think the YS would have hauled it around pretty good.

....a 14-8 on the .91FZ

....a 14-10 on the 1.10FZ will work. There are probably other props as well.

I have a YS 1.10 in a Phoenix Strega, (my avatar). Not a pretty as the Dago Red but every bit as fast. $99 from Tower.
