Default My OPS .60 RIRE speed is for sale on RCU

Hi guys,

I'm getting out of the hobby, so I'm unloading all of my stuff gradually. I decided to also give you americans a shot at owning one of the fastest engines on the planet: the OPS .60 speed monster.

I realise the exchange rates aren't exactly favorable for you guys right now, so the price is what it is... I can't help it. Perhaps some one has been waiting for this bad boy really long?

You can find the ad on the [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/item.cfm?itemid=359192&electric=0]RCU Marketplace[/link].

An extremely late happy newyear to all of you by the way.

Rudeboy:

Will miss your imput from that side of the pond, but don't think you will be gone for too long. Yes, thats a beast engine. I have one from one of the German hop up artists that is guaranteed to provide 24K with healthy prop. May get it into a project late this year, or early next year, god willing. I must admit, the 8 ports and hop ups have me a little intimidated. The best to ya mate!!!

Rudeboy, sorry to hear that you're leaving the hobby. It has been a pleasure to read your posts here. Hopefully all is well and that you get a good price for this engine.

Hi guys,

I'm getting out of the hobby,.
Bullcrap.
I have heard that over and over from otherwise self respecting men when they get married AGAIN...!!!...!!!
That would be the one excuse that makes any sense for abandoning a lifelong passion temporarily.
But please do NOT try to kid a kidder!

For the life of me, I can't understand why the engine manufactures can't reproduce a similar engine to the OPS engine. This engine was being manufactured years ago and still is regarded as a great engine. Now the manufactures try to make a low powered, quiet, high nitro burning engine that is perfect for some 80 year old man that is flying at the local field. Heck most of these old codgers don't even have drivers licens and don't even drive automobiles. Well, here we are stuck with an engine that can't rev past 12-13 thousand rpm and paying $18+ for our fuel. Having said all that I am not willing to pay $360+ for an OPS so I guess I will keep flying an engine designed for senior citicens. Now this may not can be understood by some but it is pretty much the way

Because they don't sell enough special purpose engines to justify the level of production that would make them halfway affordable, I would say. Not everyone is a power junkie - unfortunately, of course - and naturally the meat and potatoes of the market is sport engines that the average clod can handle. One of them doggone reality issues.. [&o]

Mind you, for somewhat more money you can buy a hot engine, from someone like Jett for example. You pay both what it is worth and what they have to charge to stay afloat. I would guess the R&D expenditure to develop a production engine equivalent to the OPS would require the sale of greater numbers and at a higher price than the market may bear. It is indeed a niche item. But tres cool.
