Well, here's my Shrike. I built it to be a fast combat plane. Unfortunately, I found out that my elevator servo was bad on my maiden flight, and this is what's left of it. Oh well.

In case you are wondering, the engine is a Novarossi 21. I have it on a Sig Wonder now, and it's unbelievably powerful. I'm turning a 8x4 prop at 19k rpms. It would have been great to see what it would have done to the Shrike.

I like that cover job, looks great. Mine was going to be yellow. But I was about to cover it during 9/11, so i went the patriotic route.

Do you think it would be possible to put an os50sx in the 15 size shrike???? What problems would you anticipate??? Just a thought, I want one that is really fast!!!!

For me the shrike is easy to fly, however im experianced, its not stable as a trainer, its small, rapid and goes wher you point it, and if your not 100% sure where that is it'll crash. if you wanna try stick with a 15 engine and you should be ok, this is a 3rd or 4th plane, not the second.

if you put the 50 in the middle of the plane it might work with a shaft drive, but the os 32 versions already glide like lead bricks and are way over powered, even my 21 is slightly heavy. try the 40 version, i've seen them going pretty fast on 46's

Default Shrike !!! Lets see your pics!

My shrike would be my.... 4th plane, but that is a trainer, TIGER 60 that I sold after about 10 flights (too big for my liking) and profile that I crashed real bad (see gallery) after 30 flights. So really its like a 2nd to third plane, and I find that once you get on to it, it's the most fun I've had with R/c

If you do get one, warm up on another plane maybe the day of, and get it real high so you can catch it (the don't fly themselves) if something happens

Neat planes, I highly recomend them.
(Put a 46 FX or bigger on it, too)

Hope this helps!

MY maiden flight on mine last year was compare to watching a cowboy ride a bull. From takeoff to landing, I could not wait to land it. Whoaaaaaaaaa! But after a couple flights and trimming it was okay. I ended up with minimum aileron travel. I mean hardly any at all---but you need all the elevator you can get. I have mine going damn near 90degrees. This is mainly for landing.

Beauty!

A shrike with gear!
I thought about it, but was told it will slow her down, and belly landing's not to bad....

I don't personally own a plane with gear at the moment!

Default What's the deal.

I never need a lot of elevator to land. She gracefully comes in under power, I cut the motor and she skids along the runway. I probably use 1/4" on my 40 size. (3.5 lbs dry) Interesting.

If one can do 124 mph with gear and speed recorder and a 40 fp than I can't imagine what my bare and stripped version can do. Good info.

Cheers

NO joke about the speed. The gear is because there is little to no grass here, and gravel tears them up.

I have mine set to Standard throw on all surfaces and dual rates set to 50 %
SO I CAN RELAX a little!!!!

I believe that the recorder is EMS/ JOMAR about the size of a RX

on the port wing is where the pitot tube and static port are located
better pic here

Cyclic Hardover, how is your balance. if nose heavey you'll need lots of up while landing . ( 90 degrees sounds like a speed brake)

Can't seem to add photo .... %$#$&&*

check my gallery

Default Shrike !!! Lets see your pics!

Sorry Guys, no pics of the shrike yet. I left off the outboard rib and wedged an o.s. 25fsr with pipe. We have a guy with a extra they clocked right at 95 and I fly by him like he is standing still. I know my wonder did around 100 with the 32 os on it a few years ago and the shrike seems much faster.

Any opinions on wedging a cox 15c/l motor in an 049 size shrike? I got the kit and one of those cox motors. I also have an os 10 fsr. Just wondering of the weight/power differences.
