Well Rev Bros.,
I had a crappy 10 yr old FM radio that just couldn't keep up the filtering out of the unwanted radio wave's. I have been "Hit" several times within 6 month's at that "Dry Lake Bed".
I didn't have the money at the time to get a good radio but I still wanted to fly.
Took one more chance to fly that weekend and It was the last flight of a great flying Rossi .90, Hurricane Fan, Jet!
It was so much fun to fly!
I have the mold's to build a new one but I started drinking heavily since the crash and haven't recovered either![][&o][:@][:'(]
I shall return someday!

Beauty? Well it sure flew awesome. I was there that day I can vouch for the fact that Wayne was drunk and disoriented when it went in---he kept asking "which way it is going" and "which one is mine" (Other planes were in the air). At one point he even sat down and took a short nap during the flight...You have to expect something bad to happen under these circumstances.

A 90 with a ducted fan, I have a similar setup OS 91 df and a Dynamax fan. They are supposed to produce in excess of 10 lbs thrust, at a fairly good clip.
I have yet to put together the firs plane I want to try it in, not a speed plane but rather a vectored thrust test bed...
Although I have given a lot of thought about a delta setup for it.
My first "speed" plane is going to be one of Mike Conner's creations.
The main problem I have is that our club really is not suited for any real speed planes although Shulman has flown at our field, and I am no where as skilled as he is.

Iron Eagle,
With this jet and the 6" Hurricane Fan, you can fly any where you want.
Grass, short field, high altitude......etc.
Yeah, she was a beater as you can see but oh the fun in flying in 60 mph wind's in the desert.[X(]
Time to get off my butt and build another one.

I agree, Wayne's set-up would be easy to fly on a short field. It gets airborn VERY quickly with that set-up. It is too bad you do not see Hurricane fans around much anymore [sm=drowning.gif]. Hint, hint-

I have flown a couple DF's (OS-91VRDF, Dynamax) and (OS-91VRDF, Ramtec) and neither had the performance that Wayne's Rossi-90, Hurricane fan had. The short take-off run and high speed were VERY impressive.

I would love to get ahold of something like a BVM Maverick or Aggressor with a BVM091 or 96 [X(] Maybe some day...

I like SJ's "Ammo Belt"...

Sounds like it's time to get a real radio, probably a lot cheaper the a new plane.

The Rossi-90 is supposed to be a real hot engine as compared to my OS-90, a lot more money too I bet.

I have to keep my eyes open at the auctions and swaps to see if I can find one of those fans for you...
To be honest I'd never heard of them before as far as the BVM's and alike if only I had the money....

Our runway is 400' grass so it is fairly long, the problem is we don't have the wide open space around us like you guys have. It is nice for most flying but when you want to do any speed you have to plan way ahead, so your not going to embed it in a house if something goes wrong... We only have one direction that we can really open them up, the other way we have house to think about.

I would not worry about finding a fan unit for Wayne, I think we just need to harass him until he builds another DF. I am unclear on what DF models will accept the 6" fan unit (Hurricane). I would assume anything that used to run a Byron unit?

The Hurricane fan unit answers the #1 concern of DF pilots. A short take-off roll...But excellent top speed.

SJ's plane was a legend!! [8D]

I had brought out my higher-end videocamera to film on that fateful day. But by the time I had arrived at the lake, she had been transformed into kit form []

These are high-speed passes that I had taken with a lesser quality camera (Aiptek IS-DV) on a happier day!

http://www.resume-connection.com/CobraFlyby2.ASF

That was a 190 MPH bird! It was a custom design right Wayne? (or was it a kit?)
