Default NEW-MODIFIED DIAMOND DUST VIDEO

My most recent video can be found at RCU videos under NEW DD VIDEO. Thanks to Ron Yoeman, Pat Lively, and everyone at our flying field for their help and support. Regards to all, Scott.

AIRFREEK:

Looking great. The K & B engines are all too often overlooked in the go faster engines, the Jett carb substitute is a insperiation. Fellow club member races a K & B 48 screemer in our almost anything goes open class with good sccess until my Webra 55 showed up. Webra is good for 1-2 laps on the field at each race, great running beasty. Will pull 10 X 10 around 19K, may be a winner in your DD. ENJOY

Scott,
I took the liberty to do some Doppler speed and rpm analyzes on your video and hope you do not mind. I will post the results shortly if you don't mind but would like to see a few comments first.

One of several things:
#1 you need a new tack. (happened to me)
#2 you made a typo.
#3 you mistakenly remembered the specs
#4 the prop is different or it is badly stalled/turbulent from molding flash or damaged.
#5 Jett should throw in the towel to Webra. Not gona happen.

The best I've ever witnessed is an APC 9X10 at 16800 on a Mac's tuned pipe with 10%. That's very respectable performance.
The specs you quote are almost 5 HP.

The "how fast" device recorded the fastest speed during the flight, probably during the dive, and my Doppler speed was during level flight crossing the field. Out of three passes that I checked, the fastest speed was
182 mph with a rpm of 20979.
I would think this shows the Doppler and pitot static system may agree with each other considering the dive.
Considering the prop pitch, camber and rpm the prop slippage is well above the optimal 10%. I think we would see an increase in speed with a slightly larger diameter prop or clean up the airframe with an engine cowl.

Scott, If you ever want to try and push one of my kits past 200 mph I would make you one sweet deal.

AIRFREAK-1 nice video, super fast DD.
I'm getting my first DD ready to fly and am interested in your launch system. Can you post a closeup picture it and give some info about how it's made/works.

Thanks

Scott, thats another great video.

If I remember correctly the Jett engine sounded like it was turning tighter but probably had less prop on it.

Did you ever get speed reading with the Jett engine? compared to the K&B?

Regardless I still loved both videos!!

Mike

Thanks for the info Mike! The 8.2-11 prop was accually for the JETT .60 but I had to use it on the .82 because I broke the 9-12 prop on the ground. The guy I get props from starts making props in late april so I'll shoot a new video as soon as I get some new props. Thanks again, Scott.

Hey Mike, thanks for the kind words! The JETT .60 had a APC 9-9 on it in the old video and, I'm not sure about the speed but the rpm's were 19,200 static. Maybe Mike Connor could get a doppler reading from that video. It would be interesting to compare the JETT .60 to the K&B .82. The video is at Putfile.com under Modified Diamond Dust. Regards, Scott.

nice....
that sucker is smokin

Not much chance a Jett 60L or 60LX will keep up with a big block 82 or rear rotor engine.

The K&B 72 and 82 (KBV .82) fan engines I played with were pretty awesome powerplants.

I found the file on Putfile.com but could not get it to play for some reason. Other Putfile videos worked for me. May try again later. I put a link to your video in post 3 as Bob suggested.

I got it to work.
178 mph down wind and 145 up wind for an average of just over 160 mph.
