Default YS 91 SR with CMPro Mustang 50 and WM 46 Mustang

I have the YS 91 SR Heli motor (http://www.yspartsandservice.com/parts_ys91sr.php The picture has a black header but it should be red, the manual is correct though) with a 15cc Mac tuned pipe, first in a CMPro Mustang 50 (http://www.nitroplanes.com/cmp51mu5053n.html) and then in a World Models 46 Miss America (http://www.theworldmodels.com/para/p...?airplaneid=12). The engine revs at 13,800 RPM with a 12x10 prop and 13,000 with a 12x12, I decided to go with the 12x12 so I don't over rev the engine in the air and blow a connecting rod or bearing (My friend has done it to two of these engines already). With a 12.5x11 prop at roughly 12,300 RPM (This was still rich) on the CMPro Mustang I was probably doing 140 to 150+. I was probably 10 to 15 MPH faster than the World Models Mustang with a YS110FZ. Unfortunately for me I put in the CMPro Mustang while landing (basically dumb thumb); after which I put the motor onto my WM 46 Miss America. With a 12x12 at 13,000 RPM I was about 10 MPH faster than the YS110 WM Mustang. We actually clocked this one at 138 MPH upwind and 149 MPH downwind, so the plane was roughly 143 to 145 flat and level on a calm day. Oh and yes, all the recorded passes were straight and level, no diving sh**. I'll have some pictures tomorrow and maybe even a video if my friend can remember to bring his camera (We want to droppler it).

Cheers,

MD

MD:

Are you removing the bottom radiator fixture from the airframe to reduce drag?

Nope, I love the P51 as it is, but some people have removed the"scope" and flush out the wing with the bottom of the fuse with a wedge to reduce drag. I'm presumming you're talking about the WM46 mustang.

Well pictures will have to wait as the motor mount broke today and pretty much destroyed the nose. I also lost my 15cc Mac pipe in the grass somewhere (they're so tall now). I will order a new pipe.

I put the motor back on the WM 46 Miss America with the tuned 15cc pipe from Mac. Here's a short video of it.
