RE: new design: Strega 45
I have a kit for this plane made by Look himself.
I bought it from him just before he send the molds to the US.
And I live in Germany now, so for anyone in Europe....
The kit is complete and untouched.
The wings and stabilizers were sheeted with 0.4mm plywood by Look.
I also have an OS 46 VX-DF with an Hatori tuned pipe, both new in box for this plane.
I bought them per recommendation by Look.
If anyone is interested just let me know.
Danny

dhal,
I have flown the prototype with the OS FIRE .45
It flys very well and fast even considering the powerplant.
Lowspeed is very good as well. She does float on final a bit as expected.
Look's airfoil choice was exceptional.
Have not had the personal time to move much farther forward on the VRDF.91 yet of late.
Look for a report on it this fall after my current work project is fully commissioned

jay1st,
Sorry for the delay in response,
but for gear I am using spring air 300 series which were made a bit lower profile to fit the wing. available with either 5/32" or 3/16" diameter gear legs I am using the 5/32" currently. I like a strong stout gear as not all of my landings are greasers.
The gear on the prototype are from a european or asian manufacture and hardly up to the .45" size engine.

RE: new design: Strega 45
I'm thrilled to see your still into the Strega, and I'm freaked by the quality! WOW! Who's spinner are you using? I've been having a lot of problems lately with Dave Brown spinners (don't waste time balancing)and having to go with Tru-Turn. Thought I'd save money and it cost me more in the end. The D.B spinners would probably be fine in a low rpm sport application, but I wouldn't know about that

Thanks guys, It is long over due!
Freakin, I am using the truturn spinner.
I have had one fail on my Miss Ashley, where the thru bolt sheared the head. I believe that is from the starter motor and will fabricate an aluminum bushing to fit between spinner seat the the prop bolt so I can torque down the spinner bolt.

Rob
I take it that your turning a 9X10 ? Do you know what it's tacking on the ground and what's it turning in the air?
Nice, clean treatment on the tail !

Freakin - yes it is one of the custom 9x10 props. I Love Jets schooled me to tune for 20k on the ground and not to launch with anything else.
So the prop is trimmed to 8.75" and the section is thinned slightly, measuring and comparing each station from blade to blade with a micrometer.
Vicman - I do not know Q40 rules - this plane is for ****s and giggles
Combat - thanks and I must admit to reviewing many of your cowled planes as well as the photos of the German speed cup to develop the engine cowl plenum
