Viper 500 ARF and YS 45fr?
My buddies and I are putting together some planes to see who will have the fastest. I have a nice YS 45fr with pipe looking for a home and I can't seem to decide. The viper looks very nice but how fast would it be with this motor? My other choice would be a Modeltech funfighter p-51. It is a 43" pylon plane made for a .25-.36. If anyone has any input about either of these plane/motor combos it would be greatly appreciated. If you have any other planes that are cheap but fast and would work with my motor please let me know. BTW only arf's and only planes with wheels.

the model tech fun fighters we have seen have the wing's ot tail fold on them in the turns with webra 36's on them.
the guys at the club use the 100 dollar: spitfire or p-40's.

they do around 125-130 and can turn very well at these speeds with just a layer of cloth on the wing joint. the engine they use spin bolly 9.5x6 props around 19,000-20,000. webra .32, .36, O.S 32, O.S 37 heli. all of course modified and retimed to run on the jett / nelson mufflers.
once you start getting past 135 though you will need to redo the tail feathers with two carbon strips in the tail or redo them completely.

I have the rear exhaust version on my scat cats. The last one I built was bumping 150, 8.75x8nn, Mac nitro pipe and 40% nitro. Peak Rpm was 18,800.

Sonic 500's and scat cats make much better sport planes in my opinion. They are a little slower but can be taxied and fly aerobatics much better. I have had a lot of planes and have to say my cheepo sonic was one of the most exciting of the bunch.
