Default Cermark F-20

How many of the 60 size Cermark F-20's are there still in existance?

I flew my F-20 over the weekend and had a blast. It still flies well with OS91 and pipe.

My friend is finally putting the finishing touches on his. Should be ready fly by this weekend.

I was curious as to how many still exist.

I've got a well used one hanging in the shop. If I ever get time I will make mold of it for a glass and foam version.

....I still have one flying and a spare. I had three spares at one time
but I sold two. I had purchaced those two I sold as spares for a couple
friends when Cermark closed them out, but in the end, the friends never
paid me for the planes.

Well I had one that I basically threw away after it got some water damage. Airgar had one with a Jett-90 in it and it flew real nice but any less engine and they are dogs...If I had a Jett-90 I would get the bigger Patriot (Speed Junkie style).

Cheers!

I think one of the ones you sold was resold to my friend. He is just putting it together.

.....you Guys putting together a .60 size Cermark need to do a search
here and find out about the necessary mods....especially the elevator
which will fail on the first flight. There are other flutter issues as well.

Yeh, I had never had a more impressive maiden flight. Even the ending was so spectacular, I didn't even get upset. "There I was, goin fast, turning left." Got it al trimmed up and time to open it up and with that Jett 90 "under the hood," it was moving. Then time for the high speed dive. Up, up, up it went down the back stretch. Banked around andlet it rip. I guess in laymans terms, it was going like a "MF."

Then the elevator flutter hit, broke the servo and stayed in the dive all the way to the asphalt. That plane looked like it went through a paper shredder. It was everywhere. The only thing left in one piece was the bolt-on tail section. Broke the muffler and sent it back to Jett fo a repair. Came out okay in the long run though.

I was over at a friend house a week or sol ater and he was going to toss out an old beat up Ultra Sport 60. So he gave it to me. I stripped it, rebuilt it along with new retracts and installed that Jett 90. Has been one sweet plane. Heres the old and new.

As I recall, Dave, didn't you suggest tapering the elevators on them?

....I got two laps outta' mine on maiden when the elevator fluttered and
broke. It wasn't very high, and it went in on a 45 degree angle. I ultimately
had flutter issues with the rudder and ailerons. The mechanical retracts
wouldn't even make decent fishing sinkers. I bolted the rudder servo to
and through the horizontal stab, and put a small skid over the outside.

At that point, looks were secondary. Like Razor said, they are dogs without
the Jett .90. They are decent with the Tower .75. You must address all the
flutter issues is you want to go fast. The planes were designed to go 100 mph,
that's all.

I tapered all the tail feathers chasing flutter issues, and shortened the ailerons as well.

They are cool planes when you get all the bugs out. [sm=teeth_smile.gif]

On another note. The pilot Ihad in it was a litle plastic nascar dude. He had one arm up waving. His hands were very detailed, So I got the heat gun out. Folded his arm around to the front of him. Took a razor blade and made individual fingers. Then melted them into the perfect "Bird." So when some friends were out with me gathering it all up. two of them found the pilot and started laughing when they noticed his hand flipping them off like he was upset.

We know about the flutter issues. I am on my third or fouth one now. This one has been holding up well with a 91 on a pipe.

My first one had elevator flutter. I broke all the elevator hinges and landed it because the two halves were still connected by the control rods only. They were bent up like a V-tail.

I just picked one of these up from someone in my club, its built but needs a serious recovering. Its been sitting in a room for years. I was wondering if someone could throw the CG my way. I am going to convert it to electric power when I get time to play around with it.

Oh, I am not sure on the size, I am guessing its a 40 size bird. Guess I need to get the wingspan and post it huh....lol.

Thanks.
