Default Need help

Hi guys,

I have MagnumR with weston 50 motor and the plane is realy fast (270 km/h). The bed thing is that it haven't got retracts. So now I am looking for new plane, which will be fast as magnum or faster and will have retracts.

Any idea?

I don't think you will find anything as fast as the Magnum. The only thing that would
come close to it and have retracts would be the Patriot 40.Check on E-bay and
rcu you might be able to find one for sale.

Thank you for your answer. I am also thinking on Patriot 40, but I don't find it anywhere. Greate Planes have only Patriot XL and the shippment is quite expensive to Europe.
So, if there is anyone, who would like to sell Patriot 40....here I am []

Hi!
Well ! Have a look at the F3D pylon racing airplanes ...They go fast! 375-400km/h and they could be equipped with retracts.http://www.bigbruceracing.com/prod03.htm

....The Patriot is not near the speed of the magnum....not even close.

I have raced against the Patriots one on one with the Jett .50 in it.
I had the F-20 with the Rossi. A friend had a Magnum with the stock Weston
set-up....it was at least 30 MPH faster than the Patriot.

But the Patriot must be fast, after all it looks like a jet, right? And isn't there one somewhere that does 180mph?..

The Magnum might not live up to the manfacturer's claims of 200mph+, but it is still one doggone quick little airplane. And that West .50 just keeps hauling at those ridiculous rpm like it's no big deal. Fuel 'er up and do it again. But do bring a few spare props.

During past years German Speed Cups the Magnum with Weston .50 engine + Weston pipe + 8x8 APC prop objectively was speed measured and achieved a top speed of about 170 mph.

It is not possible to gain more speed with that stock configuration Magnum airframe design and engine concept.

As for a sport speed/pylon plane with retracts you should order the new STREGA by Look ( http://www.speedmodels.nl/ ), see this thread:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_72..._1/key_/tm.htm

Powered by the JETT .60 LX FIRE you will reach the 170 mph mark easily.

Sorry, that is pure bull pucky.

Several actual German F3D pilots (WC participants) have used their stock F3D setup for the German Speed Cup 2004 to 2007 just for fun purposes.

So they took their actual F3D "Dago EVO" or "FAI Evo" with actual MB.40 pylon engine and Huisman prop and flew the FAI relevant 200 m straight line pattern.

It turned out that it is not possible to gain more than about 220 mph with an actual F3D pylon setup in the straight line (time over distance)!

So the actual F3D concept (airframe design + engine setup + prop size) is not really suited for pure straight line speed. []

Yes, the F3D plane (MB.40 powered) used for the year 2004 speed Cup in Osnabrueck reached 369 kph. But it was measured by a Stalker Pro radar gun (not FAI compliantly). In addition that 369 kph run was recorded in only in one direction when the plane was supported by very strong tail-wind.

Worth ntoing:

The Patriot was 30MPH faster than the F-20/Rossi and the Magnum is about 30MPH faster than the Patriot.

Hope you are doing well Super-Dave.

Thank you all for your answers and suggestions.

I decided for Patriot 40. But looking for that plane all over the world-no luck. So maybe anyone have plan for Patriot 40 or even have plan made in electronic form for CNC or Laser machines.

Dave, thank you.

Yeah, you are right, it looks like patriotbut without retracts

The plane that i am searching must have retracts, be as fast as possible and that it looks like scale or warbird. And all these tree things I see in patriot. I looked for Cermark F-16 and VMAR SU-27, but they are too slow - I think becouse they are too big (looking for speed 150mph and above).

Hello Pegasus,

If jet-like look and a minimum top speed of 150 mph is a must-have for you, then you should read these threads for instance:

[link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=8014946]what can I build that will go fast ?[/link] => Jetfire II [8D]
