How about a delta, like a [link=http://www.diamonddustrc.com/index.html]Diamond Dust[/link] or an [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=999]Outlaw[/link]?

Hauling arse is relative to each of us, so take this with a grain of salt. The little SD50 from H9 scoots around pretty nice with a Jett60.

Many of them are faster than the 170 mph MAGNUM with an adequate engine...

You just can't put a Ford or Chevy engine in a formula one and expect much. Same for model engines. The OS is a sport workhorse where you are lucky to get over 14,000 rpm. In most airframes that will get you around 90mph. The ST will turn a rew more rpms, both decent put put engines. The most cost effective way to go is with the 40 size airframe, most of us will suggest a Q-500 Viper or something cheep and similar. A formula airframe or composit Q-500 will be around $500-700 and worth it if you are racing the things. A TT 40-46 with 9-6-7 apc will get you in the lower 100's. A Nelson or Jett racing engine will get you in the 180's pluss. A Jett 60LX, same weight as the 40's will also get you in the 180s with a carb and 18,000 minimum rpm. Gonna have to spend something around $400.00 for a good engine, and must learn to keep them alive. Yes, you may burn one up in the first run if you don't follow great instructions. The weston magnum complete with engine and pipe is a cheep way to get up to 170's for around %$400. With no landing gear, you need good skills to get it down in one piece. You need to do your own research in this and similar forums and decide what you want and are willing to pay for. For me, a formula 40 airframe and Jett 60LX is the cats meoww. Will get you around 200mph with the ability to start her up, idle out, take off and scare yourself and every one else around with a few fly buys, all for a reasonable price new of around $1100.00. You best practice with a cheepie Viper that will get you to 130 or so, cause when you get to around 200, you better be up to the thing, everything happens so quickly, you wont be ready for it, then poof, there goes $1100 smakers or more with good electronics. You can go with turbines that will give you a honest 250 mph for a $4,000 to 10,000 price tag. There are many ways to get to 200 mph, I don't know of any truly cheep way to do it. Learning how, what and where does have a price tag, pick your poison!!!!! ENJOY

what do you all think of the Sig King Kobra. probably paired with a OS 75AX or a Super Tiger 75?

But its not what most would consider blazing fast. Other 70s-80s pattern ships of similar size (and vintage) are faster.
Two quick suggestions wood: Bluejay Dirty Birdy 60 glass/foam: Phoenix 6 from Wing Manufacturing
Throw the 75AX in there, full muffled tuned pipe, 11x9 prop... would be a nice combination probably getting up over 100 mph. The engine will not seriously unload, but piped/propped correctly it will produce some speed for you.
Some other very nice vintage pattern aircraft (balistic pattern era) appearing in production again. Worth looking in the Classic Pattern forum.

i know we are all fairly limited in how we can fly but going round and round and round and round doesn't interest me much. no matter how fast they go.

RE: I wanna go fast!!! :)
I have a great planes f-14 tomcat that I was going to list tonight on RCU....It does well over 100mph, it is fitted with full retracts, and a rossi 60 w/tuned pipe which drags it around with authority! This plane is in great condition and the engine only has maybe 6-10 flights on it since new last year....I am planning on selling it for a rather "Cheap" price....let me know if there is any interest in it!

Naw, everything built over the last fall and winter is still alive and well. For some reason, undetermined, the club guys are not racing this year, and the year is almost over. My fast one went through our 07 season undefeated. The very very fast one was not needed and sat in reserve. Have a old pattern plane (Tsunami) framed up and fitted for a Jett 60LX. Maby spark some interest for next year. In the meantime am enjoying flying the little 3D electrics, finally getting decent rolling circles out of these old thumbs. ENJOY

airraptor;
Yes, got it from Juno and was sitting a while (6 mos) waiting for me to complete projects for club buddies who hate to build or can't. Found out my plans were deformed out of the printer and sent Juno a e-mail, no response. Got a little huffy about it, but finally dawned on me that Juno RC is located right in the path of Ike, probably did not get my message. Have not found a phone number for them, so everything is by computer. Finally compensated for bad plans by drawing basics on my sheetrock topped work bench, came out very good. I think Bob Brazil knows these people (Bobs 27), he may be able to shed some light. Bob is great people, will not be bothered if you ask. ENJOY
