Default SPEED DELTA PILOTS-OLD MAN NEEDS HELP WITH COLOR SCHEME

I need some ideas for a recover of a Bruce Tharpe Delta Vortex. I love the plane and it flies beutifully, but what I thought would be a good color scheme is almost like camoflage against the sky or clouds. If you have a fast delta that has a color scheme that really shows up in the air, would you post a picture or two of the plane(top and bottom would be good). I know the BTE Delta Vortex doesn't fall into the "Extreme" speed class, but an over 60 set of eyes needs all the help they can get. Below are a picture of the Delta Vortex and a Taurus that I recently covered. The Taurus colors are much easier to see and I was thinking of doing the Delta in similar colors. Before I start, though, I thought I would ask for some ideas from you really fast guys.

All basic black with white and yellow stripes only on top, [on the outboard wing panels where you want to detect the slightest movement].. Least amount of confusion if you can tell at a glance which end is up. Stay away from white, gray and light blue as the main colors.
Red is another good main color, with white highlight striping on top side only....leaving the bottom a plain single color.

I for one do not like yellow in aircraft schemes, as a major component anyway. I don't know why though - I just do not get anywhre near the impact from it visually - in the air that is - as I do from other schemes. A color combo I think is fantastic is neon red, fire red, something intense and bright compared to regular old red anyway; plus gloss black and a bright white or a metallic varition of white.

As a general rule - dark bottom, with some basic "directional" accents, bright top with contrasting bits here and there in a more interesting arrangement works for me. A solid neon vertical fin against a relatively solid backgound stands out like a beacon. Solid neon vertical and horizontals on a black fuselage is bold and crazy. Add to that almost anything on the wings and it will all say "here I am" in a raucous voice!

The level of artistic aptitude in my trim schemes borders on the challenged, but I try to make it obvious which way is up at least.

I pretty much stick with the same color scheme if visiblity is going to be an isssue. If you see white you know you are looking at the top of the plane.

These pics do not even come close to showing how bright the neon colors are in real life.
No mistake showing top from bottom!
The problem to me was on a flyby, the side area on a delta has very small visual signature.
So I used a contrasting color[black] for the fins.
Sometimes I find if I lose orientation, just roll it a few times, then it is easier to regain control,,,or the crash has more style points!

My Dusts are now all florescent red on top and black on the bottom, for me, I have not found anything better. With my other planes, I try to Keep to the same theme: hot, warm or light colors on top and dark or wide black strips on the bottom.

I'm with MJD on this one. Light colors on top, dark on bottom with some orientation stripes.

a belgian friend made a very nice one with retracts. I saw it flying, this is not a speed deamon, but it has incredible slow speed and aerobatic skills. because my friend's daughter dies he is not building and flying anymore , i hope I will be able to buy his DV.

for your color scheme look here: http://www.deltavortex.com/phil.html
that's the bird of my friend

Thanks! That plane was good for about 130.

There's a whole build thread with videos if you want to have a look:

Gravity, I enjoyed the thread very much.
I know you don't want to spend the $$ for an Ultra thrust, Jett muffler or tuned pipe, so go to swap meets. I have a 5 gallon plastic pail full of pipes and headers I got that way cheap! Forty size pipes and headers are very common! You won’t believe the improvement they have over stock or tower mufflers.
For speed, stay away from Macs black muffler although they are a very good stock replacement or 3D pipe.

Ya found out about the cool turbine sound and loss of power just before the bearings kill the engine? You caught that one just in time.

Here's one that works well for me. The bottom is the inverse of the top (white base with red arrows).
