weston magnum
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone here at rcu. I flew my magnum this week and thanks to all the people here it went great! I fly everything from choppers to imac planes and it has been a long time since I've had this much adrenaline flowing. Not only is the plane easy to launch, but the landings were all slow and smooth. Also, the sound of this thing is incredible. The only thing I need to do now is balance it laterally, which I should have done from the beginning, but I thought I'd try it without adding the weight.
Now for the questions, How long should it take this engine to break in, I don't think I am getting all the rpms I should yet. My initial flights were with a 9x6 and I was getting 18000rpm, On the third flight I was running low on fuel and the engine picked up rpms in a steep dive. (dont know if the engine was leaning or just going fast enought that it was just coming on the pipe). When, I tried the 8x9, I was only getting about 17,600. I did cut about an Inch off the header like everyone says, but maybe that was too much for my engine and that prop right now. I'd sure like to hear what everyone else is getting for rpms with various props. Thanks

the inch off is for 8x8 props after your all ran in, look for around 19.3k+ on the ground with 5% fuel after this.
most people seem to go leaner after the 5th inflight tank through, the engine just keeps getting better after this. you may be running a bit rich, you may also not be quite on the pipe, if the RPMS "jump" then its the pipe
