Default Have a DF Picco 80 and dont know what to do with it...

I have a new (broken in) Picco ducted fan engine and pipe, I scratch built a DF plane for it but trashed it (was my own design, was unstable in pitch and lost it on the test flight).

When I broke it in, I was running an APC 11-8 prop and it was screaming. I bet it was around 20,000 rpm. I was thinking instead of its intended use, I would lathe down the head (its got a heat sink head fro a pusher Dfan) and try it in a prop speed plane.

Question: what prop should I think about using, something like a 10-10 or what?

Also any suggestions for an airframe? I though maybe whipping up a delta wing or maybe just enlarging a 40 size Q500 type. Something that I can build fast and cheap just to get some speed in.

Thanks boys!

Hi there!
I have done the same thing with OS 77 df's. Keep the prop small enough so that it runs in the 22000 range where its happiest. Deltas are the fastest although I built a stilletto mustang using a thin mustang wing...clocked in the high 180's. on 15% fuel and cut 11x8 apc prop.
good luck

So I will start with an 11-8 then. Thanks!

I have a set of foam core delta wings I was working on, maybe just use them and go from there...

See what happens!

Sure, just put it on a little delta, let it rev, and let it rip...
