Bikes work, bikes are cool. Even if it's not a two-stroke.

This can be considered a reasonable excuse for a brief respite from RC activities. Brief.

Bikes are 100% adrenaline , it was always exciting to run them , unfortunately I got to leave them after a severe accident of one member on my family , no more bikes to me . []

Anyway I enjoyed a lot your videos buddude8 .

I refuse to give in to this. Just say NO! At 48 I'm still having fun and I won't be talked out of it!

I left the skoots for a heavy tour in stock cars and now I'm almost as happy with the speedy little airplanes. My wife is much happier.
About four years ago I was able to get my first love back. My high school ride, 73 CB 750 ahh the joy.

I have a good bit of resto work to be done on mine before that happens.
Back in the early 80s I took a lot of Kawi lunch money home with it though.

The old KZ makes a whopping 65hp... And thats with some slight mods. It does handle well compared to the norm back then.

This handles better though...

My old RZ350R handles decently enough for me, although last fall I was tailing a buddy on a Ducati S4R, and while he was sipping drinks around the corners I was bottoming the suspension on every ripple. (Dial up the preload to hold up your butt, dummy - you ain't 22 any more!) Several days later I embarassed myself badly, bruised myself sorely in the hip, and taught myself a scary and sorry dumb-ass lesson by dropping it in a parking lot at about, what.. 6-7mph? That was because I had forgotten to check my front tire pressure, and I suspected I had a slow leak already you see.. Nice day, grab my jacket, helmet, gloves, kick it over and put on my shades in between blipping the throttle in rythym to my neighbour's least favorite tune, whatever that is. She's 66 afaik, and actually I think she's hoping for a ride one day. So no problems there really..

Meanwhile, back at the ranch.. the quick scoot into town, 10 miles or so of which the first half is a popular nice twisty road that conveniently I live on. So I rode into town on this low tire, not like a maniac but pushing the corners about 2 notches above casual and several below hard. Arrived at the spot, turned in, rode along the long left side of the lot before a 90 right at the end. I slow for the turn, and casually flick the bike over and.. wham! It felt like the front tire hit ice.. ooch ouch eech.. #%^# $%* *&^&*^ %^&%& !!! I whacked my ankle, hip, and elbow enough to limp and grimace for about three weeks, nothing major, just sore for a geezer-to-be. I propped the bike up and surveyed the damage and I think I got away with as little damage as I could hope - front signal snapped off, right Tarozzi rearset bracket broke in half ($ouch), rear brake lever snapped, another groove or two in the kickstarter pedal, not much else. I searched earnestly for a spot of oil or grease, because there was no way that turn would have come close to losing traction even on wet pavement. None found, then the nice concerned lady who saw me dump my butt and came to see if I was alright said "I think your front tire is low..". She was right, 12 psi. Doh! What a dork I felt.. and still feel. But - silver lining on the cloud - I will always remember to check my tires before every ride.

BD, I remeber being on my sabre at MIS and having to look out for the guys riding full race machines running me over at an open day.

Evan, It's hard to explain to guys who didn't ride that era of bike how crazy those things were back in the day. Now, with bikes like yours and the excellent tires availble anybody can go 170 if they got the parts that make them hold on long enough.

"Back in the day"

My first bike, a Honda CB400 Super Sport. I turned it into a Cafe Racer with fairing, rear sets, etc. My bike was the guinea pig for the manufacturer of the parts. After wrecking in the 'Crest due to a bad design of the rear sets I left the fairing and rear sets off and just rode it with the Clubman bars.

Quit racing motocross summer before last. Believe it or not, I wanted to spend more time at home with my wife! So after MX, we got this BMW R1100S Boxer Cup Replica that we can BOTH ride on!

So true!! I went from a 100cc Kawi that I built myself from parts to the infamous "Widow Maker" H2 750 - the 2 stroke triple. WOW!!! It would spin the tire and/or pull the front wheel off the ground any time you were under 90 mph and twisted the wick in the meat of the powerband. It'd go like stink in a straight line, but God help you if you tried to turn or stop!

After that I campaigned a KZ1000, then got sponsored and got a then-new GPZ750 and a GPZ550 (1981). The shop upgraded w/ Marschal wheels, Brembo brakes, and a stage III Yosh kit on the motors. I raced and rode them for several years then sold them to fund raising kids. I finally got the itch again about 10 years ago and went searching for a Duc. The wife "suggested" that I get something a little tamer (she knows my personality too well) and directed me toward HDs. I ended up finding an FXRS (fastest and lightest of HDs big bikes), and 120k miles later on it, I'm still loving it. I'm still trying to stay young tho - it's got drag bars, a tiny solo seat, enough mods that it'll pull the front wheel off the ground into 3rd, and nothing to keep the bugs out of my teeth - fairings are for sissies! I'd be sucking in an extreme speed contest w/ most of you guys tho!!

I can tell you get it.
My CB 750 was all over the place when you gave it the full hand.
836, hog wheel, 2in1 shorts and 52 teeth on the back. Sorry no pics right now.
The 82 Sabre was a ninja money stealing machine back then. The only thing that really kept up with it after 130 was the GS 1100 Katana (not the sissy one they re-released, the tan one with the huge gas tank) again only if the rider had the right boy parts.[8D]

Hey KMOT, pic sucks that was the early 70s, here's my ride back in the day, Honda 500/4 with Yosh 605 kit, head ported, Tracy Body, carbs modded, modded Jardines, barnett, cbr400 bars and koni's after this photo. The new powerband started at redline, pops Yoshimura knew his ****z, blew off alot of KZ900s. I used to ride my friends CB400/4 sweet ride.

FXRS Tim What was top speed on your Kaw H2, my speedo/tach needles vibrated so bad after 120 you never knew how fast you were going, I had a 74 with port work, denco's and k&ns, the intake and exhaust were so loud my ears still ring, what a blast to wheelie thou, alot of bang for the buck, gotta love 2 strokes!

In the past, I've been part of things that were fast... but you kind-a had to work to go fast. This bike, for me, is just the opposite. I have to work to NOT go fast. It rev's to just under 14K but pulls like a truck at 3K. It has 6 gears but does 96 mph in 1st. It is smooth, quite (from the saddle), stable, and agile... at really numerically scary speeds. It is speed governed and 186(!) mph. I think all of these attributes is the reason so many people get hurt with this toy and why my insurance is so hight.... It's not be cause it is difficult to ride fast.... it's because it easy to ride fast. Even at 48, going the right speed is tough.
